When is it on?

Creator Awards London is on Thursday 14 September at 17:00. Application deadline is 24 August

How many years has it been going?

This is the first year of the Creator Awards. We’re just getting started! 2017 Regional Finals have been held in: DC, Detroit, Austin. Our upcoming 2017 Regional Finals are: Mexico City, London (which will include finalists from Ireland), Berlin, Tel Aviv, NYC. It will culminate in the Creator Awards Global Finals in NYC on November 30, 2017

What was the inspiration to start it?

Creator Awards is a major new global initiative to recognise and reward the creators who are leading the way. This is an inclusive initiative in which a startup (ours!) is supporting other startups — across all industries. We understand how energising but also how challenging it can be to create something new. We believe in supporting the communities we serve. It is an honor to recognise other startups and to learn from their growth as we ourselves continue to grow. The Creator Awards is an opportunity for everyone, in all industries — from individuals to small businesses, nonprofits, artists, makers, retailers — and many others.

What exciting things can people look forward to for the 2017 version?

We’re bringing the entire ecosystem together into one experience — from finding employment opportunities, to teaching and learning, to buying and selling (think: job fair, master classes and pop up market). Plus, pitches by finalists for the chance to win awards will change lives. All capped off with an evening of inspiration, entertainment and celebration.

What opportunities are on offer for people / startups / investors and companies attending?

The Creator Awards are an opportunity for everyone and include over $20 million of available awards as part of a multi-faceted series of live events open to the public. WeWork members and non-members are encouraged to apply or nominate others. Individuals, organizations; for-profit companies and nonprofits at any stage are eligible. Finalists will be invited to present live during one of our upcoming events.

What tips would you give to people attending to get the most out of it?

Come in with eyes open and ready to absorb the experience. From meeting new people, to hearing about career opportunities, to receiving tips from luminaries in their fields, the event is all about connecting, growing, learning, and then throwing down together in a massive celebration at the end!
