COVID-19: Expert guide to employee transportation

A coalition of mobility experts have come together to produce an expert guide to managing employee transportation in the COVID era.

COVIID-19: Employee mobility throughout lockdown procedures

The COVID Employee Transportation Playbook maps out how a broad range of mobility options including e-scooters, carsharing, bike-sharing, and parking software can make it easier and safer for employers to return staff safely to the office.

The full playbook and a list of contributors is available here.

A recent McKinsey report showed commuter confidence in transport options has changed radically over the last course of the COVID-19 pandemic with only 7% of respondents believing public transport is a safe way to travel.

This is raising serious questions for many employers who need to figure out alternative ways to attract staff back to the office post-COVID-19.

The publication features contributions from a host of leading voices in the mobility, real estate, and transport industries including Ireland’s Will O’Brien (Zipp Mobility), Sarah McCartan (CitySwift) & Hugh Cooney (Bleeper Bikes).

Key takeouts include:

The increasing demand for parking and e-bikes as employees avoid public transport in the short-term.

The challenges facing micro-mobility operators who are often used by public transport users to complete journeys.

The steps public transport operators are taking to restore confidence to their services as a mode of employee transportation.

The playbook was pulled together by ParkOffice.io. Speaking about the publication, ParkOffice.io CMO Daithí de Buitléir remarked “Managing employee travel has never been more important for companies.

Around the world, when a country emerges from lockdown, employees are demanding safe and reliable transport in order to return to offices.

We wanted to create a centralized resource where employers could easily assess the options and identify the methods which best suit their business”
