CoderDojo Coolest Projects 2018

CoderDojo Coolest Projects is a world-leading showcase that empowers and inspires the next generation of digital creators, innovators, changemakers and entrepreneurs. Young people from CoderDojo clubs around the world will descend on the RDS Simmonscourt, Dublin for the opportunity to present the projects they have designed and built at their local Dojo.

Last year saw over 700 Ninjas from 16 countries including Australia, Argentina, United States, Romania, Ireland, Netherlands and Japan showcase their projects to more than 10,000 spectators at this one-day event.

Today it was announced that CoderDojo Coolest Projects 2018 will be held on Saturday 26 May. This will be the fourth year the event will be held in the RDS and the first year where the event will be held in the world leading Simmonscourt complex.

Founded in 2012 by Ben Chapman, Noel King and Paul Phelan, the event has grown thanks to the amazing work of a dedicated volunteer team. Now a global initiative, this year’s event will have over 15,000 attendees gather in Ireland’s premier venue, to experience the creativity, innovation and vision of the next generation of tech leaders and changemakers. This year, for the first time, while continuing to be a volunteer supported event, Coolest Projects is being run as an initiative of the CoderDojo Foundation.

“Coolest Projects is the flagship CoderDojo event and one of a kind globally. It is truly special and creates opportunities for young people to connect with peers from around the

world, hear world-class speakers, learn new skills and leave inspired. It is not just a competition, but a showcase of the skills and creativity of the next generation.“

–Giustina Mizzoni, Executive Director of the CoderDojo Foundation

The initiative aims to inspire and reward innovation, creativity, entrepreneurship and technology skills in youth innovators aged 7 – 17. It is a great day of exploration for the whole family, with supporters of the event also providing opportunities for attendees to try out the latest technologies including drones, VR and AR headsets, soldering and much more!

Project registration for CoderDojo Coolest Projects will open in early 2018 for all youths to register their ideas and save their space at the event. Early bird tickets for community members wishing to attend with children that are presenting projects will be available free of charge in early 2018.
