CeADAR – Ireland’s applied AI centre announces new industry board members

Ireland’s National Centre for Applied Data Analytics and Machine Intelligence (CeADAR) announces the appointment of seven board members with a range of new high-profile industry members joining the Industry Steering Board.

CeADAR is a market-focused technology centre for innovation and applied research in big data analytics, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning.

Its primary focus is on delivering industry prototypes, technology demonstrators and state-of-the art reviews to deliver tangible value to its member companies.

CeADAR, which is an Enterprise Ireland and IDA-funded Technology Centre, has more than 80 member companies across a wide span of industries.

The Industry Steering Board supports the Centre Director – Edward McDonnell — in determining the overall vision and strategic direction for the organisation.

The new Industry Steering Board, which will continue to be chaired by Mike Brosnan, Director of XGS Consulting, has seven new board members from industry. The new external industry members are: John Byrne, founder and CEO of Corlytics; Noelle Doody, Head of Analytics at SSE Airtricity, Bronagh Riordan, Head of  Deutsche Bank’s Global Analytics Centre of Excellence, The Hive; Dave O’Flanagan, co-founder and CEO of Boxever; Gurchand Singh, Chief Information Officer for the Department of Justice and Equality; Dr Allan Kearns, Head of Prudential Analytics at the Central Bank of Ireland and Ronan O’Connell, Senior Director at SAP Advanced Analytics.

Remaining on the board are Carol Gibbons, Director of ICT Commercialisation at Enterprise Ireland and Declan McGee, Technology Centres programme Manager with Enterprise Ireland and Dónal Travers, Head of the IDA’s Enterprise Technology Group.
The term for the Industry Steering Board is two years and members meet every two months.

CeADAR also announced the creation of a new Technology Advisory Group, which will survey the landscape and pinpoint emerging technologies and new industry verticals which CeADAR should address.

The members of this group are: Susan McKeever, Principal Investigator TU Dublin; Maurice Lynch, CEO at Nathean Technologies Ltd.; Cronan McNamara, CEO of Crème Global; Alessandra Sala, Head of the Bell-Labs Analytics Research; Medb Corcoran, Ireland Lead, Accenture Lab; Oisin Boydell, Principal Data Scientist and Head of Applied Research Group; Ricardo Simon Carbajo, Head of Innovation and Development and Mark Scanlon, Lecturer UCD School of Computer Science.
