CarTrawler To Create 400 New Jobs

CarTrawler, the car rental marketplace, has today announced the creation of 400 new jobs over the next three years at its Dundrum Headquarters. The first phase of 200 hires has already commenced across a range of functions including senior roles in Business Development, Customer Operations, Data Science, Finance and Engineering.

Established in 2004 and headquartered in Dublin, CarTrawler provides aviation, travel, hospitality, leisure and consumer brands with a direct connection to over 1,200 independent car rental agents in over 30,000 airport and city locations across different 174 countries.

To enable the company’s ongoing growth, CarTrawler will also be opening a new International Customer Centre of Excellence in Dundrum supporting customers in 174 countries. The announcement was made this afternoon by An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny TD, Minister for Jobs Richard Bruton TD and Mike McGearty, CarTrawler CEO. CarTrawler is supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through Enterprise Ireland.

Mike McGearty, CEO of CarTrawler said, “We have firmly established our position as one of the travel-tech industry’s top employers. We continue to invest in our technology and our team to ensure that we remain the driving force behind car rental worldwide. We are very pleased to be able to create these new roles in our country of origin which will help to showcase our home grown Irish business on the international stage”.

Gillian French, Chief People Officer of CarTrawler, said “The key to running a successful high tech business is knowing that technology matters but that people matter more. We’re really passionate about what we do and recognise the importance of investing in the growth of our people. For us, it’s about cultural fit and attitude, not just academic credentials. Our recruitment process is already underway and we expect to have approximately 200 positions filled by early 2015”.

Minister Richard Bruton said, “At the very heart of the Government’s Action Plan for Jobs is the creation of a powerful engine of Irish enterprise alongside the strong multinational sector. We have put in place a range of measures to deliver on this, and in the past two years we have seen a net increase of over 8,000 jobs in Irish exporting companies. Today’s announcement that CarTrawler is to create an extra 400 jobs in Dublin is a great example of the type of project we are trying to support through our plan. This is a further great boost for Ireland’s reputation as a source of innovative, fast-growing Irish companies and I wish CarTrawler every success with this project”.
