Award-winning British audio specialists Cambridge Audio has unveiled the next evolution of its Melomania headphones: Melomania Touch true wireless in-ear headphones.
The new Melomania Touch follows on the success of the company’s first-ever true wireless earphones, the award-winning Melomania 1 (which we reviewed here), to offer an all-new design with intuitive touch controls, stunning sound performance and world-class battery life.
Melomania Touch will be available to purchase from Amazon, Cambridge Audio and Richer Sounds from 1st January 2021, priced at €139.95.
Award-winning sound and High Performance Audio Mode
Featuring an innovative High Performance Audio Mode that uses hi-fi grade amplification technology, Melomania Touch delivers a genuine step forward in sonic performance.
The default High Performance Audio Mode uses the same method of amplification found in the company’s award-winning CX range of hi-fi amplifiers, and Cambridge Audio’s engineers have been able to deliver that high level of audio fidelity in these true wireless earbuds – a groundbreaking achievement. This means you can enjoy an even greater soundstage, lower noise and a higher dynamic range than ever before with Melomania Touch.
Custom Cambridge Audio 7mm drivers are enhanced with graphene, a lightweight material selected by Cambridge Audio’s engineers for its outstanding strength and rigidity. These qualities offer the dynamism and response needed to deliver the Melomania Touch’s incredible sound quality – resulting in deeper controlled bass, realistic voices and clearer highs.
The true wireless design incorporates Bluetooth 5.0 technology for strong signal stability and the latest AAC and aptX codecs – meaning all smartphone users can stream high-quality wireless audio without signal drops even in busy areas.
Additionally, the inclusion of two high quality microphones and Qualcomm’s Clear Voice Capture (cVc) noise-cancelling technology ensures that voice calls over smartphones, tablets and laptops remain crisp, clear and free from background noise during working from home meetings on Microsoft Teams, Skype, Zoom and other collaboration tools.
All new design with touch controls
Melomania Touch’s all-new design with touch controls is built for the demands of real-world use. Whether you’re listening to your favourite playlist or podcast on weekly commutes, soundtracking a massive work out, or tackling video calls on a laptop – these tiny earbuds are ideal for busy lifestyles and music lovers alike.
The new headphones are crafted using data points from over 3,000 pairs of ears to ensure the perfect combination of long-lasting comfort, noise-isolation and immersive sound quality. They are super lightweight – each earbud weighs just under 6 grams – and are supplied with multiple silicone ear tips and selectable fins that allow you to find the perfect, snug fit.
On-the-move use is seamless thanks to the intuitive touch controls on Melomania Touch. Simply tap on the earbuds to play and pause music, skip tracks, change volume, take hands-free calls, switch on Transparency Mode and summon Siri or Google Assistant.
Thanks to IPX4 certification, Melomania Touch is also protected against water and sweat, so the headphones can withstand a sudden spell of rain or your daily exercise.
Melomania Touch also comes with a new compact charging case finished in premium microfibre leather and sports a fast-charging USB-C port.
50 hours of battery life
In Low Power Mode, the Melomania Touch true wireless earbuds have 9 hours of battery life on a single charge. And you can fully recharge the headphones more than four times over using the supplied charging case – resulting in a further 41 hours of truly wireless listening.
Even in High Performance Audio Mode, Cambridge Audio’s engineers have worked their magic to achieve around 7 hours of battery life on the earbuds, and up to a further 33 hours via the charging case.
Introducing the Melomania app
The new Melomania app, compatible with iOS and Android devices, enhances the experience of using Melomania Touch. With the app, you can customise EQ settings and tailor music playback to your individual sonic style, locate misplaced earbuds using your phone’s map location, and check each earbud’s battery life.
Another new feature is Transparency Mode, which feeds in outside ambient noises so you can be aware of your surroundings while still enjoying music at the same time. You can turn the Transparency Mode on or off using touch controls on the earbuds and adjust the transparency levels within the Melomania app.
The app also allows you to upgrade Melomania Touch’s firmware, which means the product is future-proofed and will improve over time.
