C5’s Impact Investing Summit, Tuesday 7 May 2019

When and where is it on?

The event will be held on Tuesday 7 May 2019 at Bird & Bird LLP in London.

How many years has it been going?

This is C5’s first Impact Investing Summit.

What was the inspiration to start it?

While traditionally there has been a clear distinction between investment and philanthropy, in the past decade we have seen them combining in the form of impact investing. Ultra-High Net Worth Individuals, family offices and institutional investors are increasingly seeking investment opportunities that generate both a financial and social or environmental return – often referred to as the double bottom line. At C5 Accelerate we celebrate innovators that are harnessing technology to solve the world’s most pressing challenges. As the startups that are tackling these challenges grow, it is vital we are providing an ecosystem that allows them to thrive. Through the Impact Investing Summit 2019 we will connect like-minded people to discuss how we can ensure the right infrastructure is in place to ensure this type of investing can grow.

What exciting things can people look forward to? / What opportunities are on offer for those attending?

The event will be a fantastic opportunity for attendees to network with impact investors, innovators, thought-leaders and entrepreneurs from the public and private sector driven by a common purpose to achieve sustainable change.

There will be a series of panels dedicated to themes such Agritech, Financial Inclusion and Renewable Energy.

ITC Secure will be leading a Women in Cyber track in conjunction with the National Cyber Security Centre.

Who will be speaking?

Speakers at the event will include Paul Crewe, Chief Sustainability Officer of Anthesis; Ashley King-Bischof, co-founder of Annona; Nita Colaço, Investment and Corporate Partnerships Manager at Octopus Investments; Matt Bonass, International Chair and Co-Head of Energy & Utilities at Bird and Bird; Clare Johnson, Head of Cyber Security at South Wales University; Jesus Alvarado, founder of Time Control Technologies; Opeyemi Akinwoleola, co-founder of DropQue; Miishe Addy, founder of Jetstream; Ibraheem Babalola, co-founder of Muster; Laila Akel, founder of RedCrow; Sandra Sassow, co-founder of SEaB Energy; Timothy Kotin, co-founder of Superfluid Labs; Karina Grosheva, founder of TaQadam; Olga Miler, Founder of Smartpurse, and many more.

What tips would you give to people attending to get the most out of it?

Attend as many panels as possible to hear from the wide range of different industry experts and entrepreneurs that C5 has gathered together.
