Business Showcase : Wedding Avocado

Describe the company – the elevator pitch …

Wedding Avocado is a new tech startup based out of Limerick. The company came into existence to make wedding planning easier and as a result we have created Ireland’s first B2C wedding marketplace where people can list, discover, and book a whole range of wedding services.

The idea surfaced after co-founders Barry and Brigid spent weeks and weeks searching for available acts for their wedding. They found that obstacles were many and frequent and soon became convinced that they could create an online “one stop” shop where the very best of Ireland’s wedding services could be showcased and booked hassle free.

Wedding Avocado became a family run business when Barry introduced the idea to his brother Sean and his partner Dee, who promptly became co-founders. The idea took seed and grew to maturity much like our titular Avocado!

Our mission is to connect suppliers and customers on the platform, cutting out hours, days and weeks of wasted time sending emails asking the same questions about availability and price.

Customers can browse suppliers’ listings on the platform, read reviews, watch videos and see

  1. Who is available (Calendar function),
  2. Who will travel (Travel Zone)
  3. Pay a 10% deposit online to secure the booking

How are you different?

We are the only true B2C marketplace in this area. Working off a commission model not dissimilar to Airbnb.  All other competitors work off a subscription-based model. We believe in fairness, so we only get paid when the supplier does, unlike the traditional subscription providers.

Our algorithm automatically promotes active and reliable suppliers making it easy for the customer to make the right choice and increasing the chances of a successful transaction.
