Describe the company

VMI are a Virtual Reality studio, specialising in creating fully immersive and interactive experiences for the Architectural, Engineering and Property Development sectors. Using advanced gaming technology and high-end computer graphics, we have developed Virtual Reality experiences which inform and engage users; as well as assisting the design processes.

Starting out as an Architectural Visualisation studio producing stunning still and animated imagery for Architects and Developers, the logical next step was full interactivity and engagement. VMI has positioned itself as the leaders in this technology.

How are you different?

We are not all about the tech, but the experience and design!

VMI differentiate themselves from other Virtual Reality studios, by having a background and speciality in Architectural Visualisation and photo-realistic imagery. Working with some of the largest names in Architecture and Development, VMI have become recognised for their accuracy, efficiency and most of all outstanding imagery, interpreting Architectural plans into evocative imagery.

Focusing on an extremely high level of photo-realism, VMI have migrated their architectural backgrounds and high-level graphics into immersive game technology.

Why will the company / product do well?

Allowing users to freely walk around their future homes in 360 and at an advanced level of realism, is incredibly valuable to both the user and marketer. Never before have viewers had so much access to their potential future homes and developers the ability to show their developments. Not only can users of Virtual Reality navigate around their (unbuilt) apartment in real-time but they can adapt the layout and materials too! Further to this, it is a cross-platform, useable on a tablet, phone, PC and of course VR headset!

Where are you based?

In Earlsfield, south-west London just down the road from Clapham Junction.

When was the company launched?

Early 2015

What have been your biggest wins to date?

We are the first company to install a completely interactive CGI, Virtual Reality experience into a property
marketing suite in the UK!

Producing a 2 bedroom apartment for the Oculus headset, visitors can now walk around Higgins Home’s Clissold Quarter development in Stoke Newington in VR ahead of development. This has had a massive impact on the marketing of the 200 unit development, with visitors absolutely loving the experience and the access it gives them to their future home. It has since become a very large part of their marketing!

What type of people (market segment) are you trying to attract to your product?

Principally our clients are working in the development sector such as Architects, Property Developers and interior designers; however, we are having increasing interest from the aero/nautical industries. Tell us about your team? Founded by brothers Nick and Fergus Byrne, the team has grown 4 fold in its first year to 8. The chief partners are Nick (Creative Director), Fergus (Operations Director) and Ed George Lloyd (Architect) and our team of computer and design prodigies! What are you long term plans for your product / company? We want to work with great Architects and Developers to continue to produce stunning imagery and Virtual Reality experiences of course!

What are your favourite tech gadgets?

We love the new Samsung S7, because it comes with the Gear VR meaning all users will be using Virtual Reality! The future has arrived! On a personal not I also think the “Instrument 1” is a fascinating new technology based musical instrument, got to get one of those!

What tech gadgets do you wish you could use to help you?

We would love to develop with a Virtuix VR treadmill, which allows users to run on a treadmill as apposed to using a controller to direct their movements.

Anything else you’d like to add / we should have asked?

Yes, Virtual Reality is one of those things that you have to try to truly understand how amazing it is! So if you have the opportunity anytime soon, give it a go it is mind blowing. Or come and visit our studio!

How do people get in touch with you?

Via email is best info@vmistudio.com or call into the studio 02081447653
