Where are you based?
We are headquartered in San Francisco and have large presence in Tallinn, Estonia where our product and engineering teams are based.
When was the company launched?
Testlio was launched at the end of 2012. I started my career as a software tester during my second year of college. I was working on different crowdtesting platforms and I realised that these environments were not necessarily very tester friendly. Testers’ time was undervalued and teamwork wasn’t encouraged since pay was based on competition among testers. I found this harmful to end-users’ goal, too. We decided to found Testlio to change they way testing was done. When my co-founder Marko and I went to Angelhack and won it, our idea became reality.
What have been your biggest wins to date?
We’ve scaled the business incredibly quickly. I am so proud of the team we have built. We have over 60 people in two offices — they are smart, spirited and motivated. We have also expanded our community of testers. We are proud to provide great growth opportunities for testers around the world.
What type of people (market segment) are you trying to attract to your product?
We’re best suited for enterprise companies. Our QA service helps them launch products and new features quickly. Our customers include Microsoft, Flipboard, Salesforce, Strava and Lyft.

Tell us about your team?
Testlio is a team of over 60 unique individuals spread over San Francisco (client facing roles such as Sales, Marketing and Customer Success) and Tallinn (Product, Engineering and Customer Success). We hire the best people we can find and give them meaningful and meaty roles. We ask everyone to challenge themselves every single day and think outside the box.
What are you long term plans for your product/company?
Our goal is to change the way QA is done! We want to help companies build great products while providing meaningful career growth opportunities for testers around the world.
What are your favourite tech gadgets?
My iPhone 6+, because it allows me to be fully functional on the go. In Estonia, we can access secure e-services and digitally sign documents from our smartphones.
What tech gadgets do you wish you could use to help you?
An audio transcription service would streamline my blogging process.
Anything else you’d like to add / we should have asked?
I always get asked about giving advice on starting and scaling a new business. I tell founders to have a clear vision and work towards it without sweating the small setbacks on the way. Entrepreneurs should ask for help and advice from others, but in the end you know what’s best for your business.
