Terrapin Technology aims to be the world leading provider of personal protective technology in an ever changing global environment.

Following two years of research and development utilising Honeywell Spectra Shield, Terrapin Technology brings state of the art, undetectable, discreet protection to everyday bags and luggage.

Under the Trade mark of  , the product range consists of Backpacks, Messenger bags, Briefcases, Laptop Bags and Document zip folders, with more retail products under development.

How are you different?

Terrapin Technology stands out as we are the only company in Europe producing products of this nature for the retail market.  Under a worldwide exclusive deal with the number one provider of ballistic resistant material in the world, Honeywell, Terrapin Technology are bringing levels of protection to the general public previously only available to military and police forces.

Why will the company / product do well?

The product will do well as from day one we have built all of our products with quality in mind.  As we hope that you would never need to use our products for their protective purposes we have not compromised on quality or performance of the everyday products when incorporating the light-weight, flexible and totally discreet ballistic resistant fibres.

Where are you based?

Terrapin Technology is based in Worcestershire, England.

When was the company launched?

The company was launched in 2015, with sales starting in 2016.

What have been your biggest wins to date?

Our biggest win to date has been securing worldwide exclusivity to use Honeywell’s state of the art Spectra Shield for retail purposes.

What type of people (market segment) are you trying to attract to your product?

We have two main target segments.  The first is the consumer market, meaning anyone who travels, although we see high-end business people who travel in and out of the city and internationally as being our main customer base.

The second is the commercial market.  Terrapin Technology is able to produce bespoke products that are in-keeping with corporate colours and branding, therefore our products would be perfect to be included as part of the corporate package that blue chip organisations provide to their key men and women (particularly those who are required to travel as part of their role).

Tell us about your team?

We are a small team of three hard working individuals.  Ranging in age from 24 – 50 we have a great deal of experience in business and have worked in a variety of different industries before coming together to form Terrapin Technology.

What are you long term plans for your product / company?

The long term goal for the business is to expand internationally as well as expanding the product range.

What are your favourite tech gadgets?

We are very excited by the recent emergence of Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality, with Oculus Rift and other similar products recently launching, as well as a fantastic year for Pokemon Go in the Augmented Reality arena.  We are excited to see how far these can be taken and whether we will ever see Augmented Virtual Reality.

What tech gadgets do you wish you could use to help you?

We recently sourced a supplier who is able to cut our material using a laser cutter making massive savings in both time and cost, as well as giving a far more precise finish.  Although we are already getting the benefits of this tech, it would be fantastic to be able to purchase our own laser cutter and bring this function in-house.

Anything else you’d like to add / we should have asked?

Although we know that the world is changing, we can offer people something that will help with the fear of being in crowds, although our best line of defence and bullet resistance is to get as far away as possible form the risk… the more fresh air between you the better.  It’s a great product, high quality and certainly value for all to buy.
