Describe the company – the elevator pitch…

SuperPixel provide elegant and appropriate apps for retail and iGaming companies in a colourful and open coworking space.

How are you different?

Our strategy is to build digital products and mobile apps which we license to these brands. The technical approach we adopted, to enable us do this repetitively, was to create our flagship technology which we call the ADVOKIT platform. In simple terms this is a platform which we use to build apps quickly and easily. It deploys many digital features, including social networking and gamification, to deliver great customer experience and engagement in all the apps we produce.

It took almost two years to build and we are now commercialising the opportunity it affords. We now employ 9 people including four specialist mobile software developers and two designers. We intend to grow this team to 19 people over the next year. sp1

Why will the company/product do well?

We established Superpixel to meet the huge demand for mobile technology and mobile products as a result of the phenomenal growth in smartphone usage.

Our clients are retailers & businesses (Brands) who have physical shops and who offer their products online. These brands recognise that they also need to offer their products on a mobile channel. This mobile channel is technically more difficult to create than websites and it is even more difficult to create a good user experience. All the top brands realise they can gain significant competitive edge if they can get their mobile strategy delivering effectively.

We sell our products and service at enterprise level and our initial target clients are businesses with multiple outlets that operate in the Retail, Leisure and iGaming sectors in Ireland and the UK.

Where are you based?

Our head office is in the coworking space Superpixel Labs, Galway. We also have an office in Shoreditch, London and Poznan, Poland.

When was the company launched?

In 2012 by Barry and Mike Duffy. They both are driven entrepreneurs that passionately believe that they can internationalise Superpixel through the ADVOKIT platform.

They are both civil engineers from NUI Galway and both have graduated with a Masters in Project Management from Smurfit Business school. Barry also completed a Masters in Finance in Imperial College London. Mike has several years digital project management experience in Accenture before setting up Superpixel.

What have been your biggest wins to date?

To date we have built digital products & apps for reputable clients such as Boylesports, Mothercare Ireland, NUI Galway, Webtext, Voxpro, AUA & Pendulum Summit.

Tell us about your team?

We have a very experienced management team all with a vested interest in delivering the company vision and all who have been involved from the start. In total we employ 12 people. Our product development team consists of 2 designers and 4 software developers, Head of Sales and Community Manager/PR.

We are hiring an additional full stack developer to develop our integrating, testing and product technical support capability. We anticipate growing our team to 19 people over the next two years.

What are you long term plans for your product/company?

All our products are very scalable as we retain ownership of the underlying code and we can easily replicate products for different sectors. Superpixel is a business that can internationalise quickly.

Customer Acquisition & Scaling: Our growth strategy is to deliver 6 further Advokit licenses through 2016. We are a currently negotiating the first of these with a large food retailer. We are looking to scale our operations to UK and US through 2016 and 2017.

Capacity building:

Our product development strategy is aligned with this growth strategy. In order to build more products efficiently we need to grow our team and capability.

What are your favourite tech gadgets?

We are really into VR at the moment and IOT.
