Describe the company – the elevator pitch…
I am an Employer Brand Strategist. My business, Nexus Consulting, assists companies to become top choice employers, through developing stellar employer identities. In essence, we fine-tune talent management practices, and communicate the cultures that underpin the attraction, engagement and retention of top talent – thereby reflecting a strong authentic Employer Brand. We believe that the relationship between employer brand, corporate strategy and talent management is symbiotic, and this is the foundation for all our work.
How are you different?
We are a niche consulting firm, and unlike others in fields related to talent or branding, our focus is dedicated to Employer Branding. We apply a spotlight to the complete employment spectrum, from pre-hire to retire, which is distinctive.
Furthermore, we have the capabilities to deliver on the two main specialties that often align in employer branding: HR development and digital marketing expertise. We are different, as we have the ability to blend both perspectives, where needed. We see it as an organization-wide endeavour, driven by solid talent management strategies. We communicate the brand through digital & content marketing touch-points. We can provide expertise in the full employer branding sequence because of this synergy.

Why will the company/product do well?
We are confident there is a strong need for our expertise – Our well researched and best practice solutions can maximize companies’ potential to attract, engage and retain top talent. This is highly desirable in Ireland, particularly within the STEM industry.
However, a lot of companies are starting to realise that their talent attraction power must extend beyond the acquisition stage- it is imperative that company leaders understand how to retain talent further down the pipeline. We create bespoke, agile solutions that enhance a company’s ability to become a continuous talent magnet, future-proofing it’s employer brand.
Where are you based?
We are based in Cork City but available to consult, train and speak throughout Ireland and beyond. Thanks to our boundary-less world today, there are many choices that allow us to roam, it’s great.
When was the company launched?
The company was incorporated in 2015 and launched in 2016. Our solutions have become more streamlined in terms of capabilities, since late 2016.

What have been your biggest wins to date?
A big professional win to date has been the ability to influence many leaders and managers that we have pitched to. In the past, employer branding was often considered a stand-alone, ‘nice to have’ process, with no clear ownership. Today, its time has come – Research strongly supports its ability to significantly affect company bottom-line outcomes. I am a strong proponent of incorporating data and metrics to support any employer branding and talent management initiatives. Demonstrating to a receptive audience, how a well crafted employer brand is a transformative strategy and can deliver a strong return on investment, is very rewarding.
Other wins would have to include relationship-building – I have been very fortunate to associate with several trusted allies – allowing my company the flexibility to build extra capacity and knowledge, across several disciplines.
What type of people (market segment) are you trying to attract to your product?
Our solutions are aimed at a broad range of industries – such as Tech, Engineering, Pharma, Food & Drink, Insurance, Financial etc. We are interested in speaking with Irish companies experiencing or anticipating strong growth, particularly post-Brexit; or Irish start-ups scaling for growth. We have a specific ‘Employer Branding Intro’ master-class for Start-Ups.
Tell us about your team?
I have a tight team of two currently, but I also work with two other great associates. I am delighted to have the ability to increase my team’s capacity when it’s needed. It’s allowing Nexus flexibility and scope when pitching for different types of projects.
What are your long term plans for your product/company?
My long term goal is that my business becomes a recognized leader in the field of Employer Branding in Ireland and beyond. As an indigenous Irish company performing a rather unique role, I would like to continue to grow our client base.
What are your favourite tech gadgets?
I am a bit of an app junkie, particularly to anything relating to food and travel! I am also very partial to organizational network analysis (ONA) software – a great tool in my line of work.
What tech gadgets do you wish you could use to help you?
I am very interested in how VR technology may be applied and utilized as part of an employer brand strategy. There is merit in its potential ability to convey certain aspects of the employee experience – it’s something I intend to explore.
Anything else you’d like to add/we should have asked?
I’d like to add an emerging talking point – the view that organisations need to consider employees as they would customers or clients. The same guiding principles of ‘attract, engage and retain’, regarding customers and corporate brand, also rings true regarding employees and employer brand.
