Describe the company – the elevator pitch …
Lightwave Logic, Inc. is a development stage company moving toward commercialization of next generation photonic devices using its optical high stability polymers for applications in data communications and telecommunications markets. Initial high speed devices will be the polymer modulator which has already proved to be 25Gbps capable. Devices at these speeds will enable the explosive and huge 100Gbps markets (using 4 channels at 25Gbps).
How are you different?
Polymer materials are spun onto platforms as opposed to traditional semiconductor solutions that enables low cost fabrication and processing techniques. Through an extensive development program Lightwave Logic has been able to optimize high performance non-linear optical polymer materials for devices such as modulators. Modulators are key optoelectronic devices that are required for high speed optical communications and provide a vehicle to enable both 100Gbps as well as 400Gbps solutions.

Why will the company/product do well?
Currently Lightwave Logic intends to offer not only photonic devices such as modulators based on our high performance polymers but also a polymer PIC (photonic integrated circuit) platform for the communications market. Lightwave Logics Polymer PIC platform is scalable which is important in today’s environment: it allows photonic devices to scale higher in performance while scaling lower in cost structure as volumes increase.

The company is headquartered in Longmont, Colorado but also operates an organic chemistry laboratory in Newark, Delaware.

What have been your biggest wins to date?
The company has been able to demonstrate consistent progress both in organic polymer material systems development and the further implementation of those materials in proprietary photonic devices.
Furthermore, Lightwave has met and exceeded milestones over the past 2 months by driving the performance of the modulator device to 10Gbps at the end of 2016, and 25Gbps by April 2017, ahead of schedule.
What type of people (market segment) are you trying to attract to your product?
The 3 areas of opportunity for the company are telecommunications network providers, data communications network providers and cloud-based data centers.
