Business Showcase: LED Powerhouse

Based in Cork, LED Powerhouse are an online supplier of LED lights and torches. Aiming to “Conquer the Dark”, LED Powerhouse carry leading brands such as Fenix Flashlights and LED Lenser.
We spoke with Sean Hennessy, owner of LED Powerhouse, to find out more about the company.

Q1 Hi Sean. Can you tell me about what products LED Powerhouse offers?

LED Powerhouse offers a wide range of LED Flashlights, Headlamps, Bike lights and Lanterns. We also have a small selection of GU10 and B22D LED home lights

Q2 When was the company launched?

LED Powerhouse was launched In October 2011, so we’re just three years old this month.

Q3  Where are you based?

We don’t have a retail premises, we sell primarily via our website LEDpowerhouse.com. We have an address in Blackrock in Cork city for post etc., and I am based in Midleton.

Q4  What was the motivation for starting a LED Flashlight business?

My business partner and I both came from electronics manufacturing business backgrounds and we are very interested in the outdoors, so we were looking for something where we could combine our experience and expertise with our hobbies. Flashlights seemed to fit the bill nicely, and three years later it still is.

Q5 How has business been since you launched?

As we were starting from scratch with very little capital investment, we started small and have been building slowly but steadily.  We used social media from the outset to spread the word and that worked well for us. We’ve been adding consistently to the product range we carry and we are always investigating new products and companies that are using new techniques or improved LED chips etc. It’s exciting because LED technology is improving all the time so there are new products coming to the market on a regular basis.

Q6 What do you feel makes your company stand out from the other suppliers?

The wide range of products we stock, aligned with our mission to delight our customers with excellent customer service are our primary differentiators. We are available on the phone and by email to help customers to choose the best flashlight for their needs and typically we ship same day on orders received before 3.30pm on business days.

Q7 Do you see the market for home lighting being a big growth area now that prices are coming down?

This is an area we are monitoring closely. We have tried and tested some of the low priced LED home lights and they were not to the standard that we would want to sell to our customers. The small selection available in stock are products we have tried and tested and are happy with. I believe that as the technology improves and the heat dissipation challenge is overcome LED home lights will definitely be the way forward.

Q8 What’s next for LED Powerhouse?

We will continue to expand our range of flashlights. We are also working on finding suitable retail outlets for Fenix Flashlights around Ireland and expanding further into the home LED lights area as we find a range of products that meet our requirements and that we would be happy to sell to our customers

Q9 What’s the best way for people to get in contact with you and find out more?

We are contactable by phone on 021-2348205 or by email on info@ledpowerhouse.com
People can also connect with us on Facebook, Google+ and on Twitter.
