Today we announced an all new Jobs section on our site. We have partnered with Jobbio and will now be utilising their Ecosystem to provide our readers and all of the businesses we work with the best possible platform for job discovery and talent attraction.

To coincide with the announcement we sat down with Stephen Quinn, CEO of Jobbio, to put this Business Showcase article together so you can find out more about our new recruitment partner.

Hi Stephen. Can you explain to our readers what Jobbio is?

So Jobbio is an online and mobile careers marketplace – we simplify the job discovery and application process for both Talent and Companies.

We give the Brands the ability to present themselves in a much more engaging way to attract better talent, post job ads for free, manage the application process using the world’s first live applicant tracking platform and keep their talent pool in a live ecosystem. It saves companies time, money and helps them attract great people both now and in the future.

We give Talent the ability to showcase themselves and their skills in a unique way. They have the ability to come out from behind their CV. They can search and discover opportunities in our marketplace and apply instantly from desktop and mobile. And this is all done in total privacy. We deliver them more relevant opportunities making the hunt for a new career much more fluid.

When did you launch and how many employees do you currently have?

We went live with a market ready platform in February 2015. We went live with our app in September 2015. We currently employee twenty in Dublin across Tech, Marketing, Sales and Account Management, six in London and two on the ground in New York.

There’s a huge amount of jobs being advertised on many different platforms every month. How are you different and why should brands choose you?

That’s is true, there are a lot, some of the aggregators would have 10 million jobs at any one time which is a frightening amount. And to think 75% of the worlds jobs aren’t even advertised. Companies choose Jobbio for lots of reasons but mainly three. We have an unbelievable community of Talent now live on Jobbio. We are now adding 20,000 Talented people a month and growing that significantly month on month. Because Jobbio is private we are getting both passive and active Talent which is a real point of difference for us.

We are really efficient from a cost perspective, companies are frustrated paying fees to recruiters and old job boards – Jobbio is affordable for companies big and small. We also allow the companies bank talent in a live ecosystem so they are talking to live Talent, not CV’s. Recruitment is no longer reactive, it’s not about filling a seat, it is about getting the right person for the business, even if they applied six months ago. Finally, we save companies time, the platform gives companies the ability to manage the application process using a simple workflow – it’s a bit like CRM for hiring.

Can you explain the process of listing a vacancy from an employer’s point of view?

Of course, it is very simple. A company creates an account; they can post a job really easily using simple tools, they put in job details, tag searchable skills and they can even add imagery and video into the job ad. They are effectively marketing their opportunities better in order to attract the best possible Talent to apply. Job posting is free on Jobbio once you have an account so you can post as many roles as you like, that is a huge benefit.

And for the prospective employee, what’s the process for them and how can your platform help them find their ideal employment?

Imagine an ambitious person, they want to know when roles are coming up in companies they have a desire to work in. Jobbio enables them to have a privately held, live bio which you can set up in a few simple steps. Tell us what you are interested in and we use our matching technology to deliver relevant opportunities to you. You can learn much more about the companies on our marketplace, get great insight about their culture and the work they do. So you are more informed about the opportunities that are out there.
We allow talent and brands to connect with each other directly, so when the right opportunities arise, the right people know about it. We are reimagining hiring, in a way that is seamless and, most importantly, effective.

You’re based in Dublin but Jobbio has also launched in London and New York. Tell me some more about that?

We are growing really really fast in London. We maintain a strategy where we follow our customers, we saw customers using Jobbio in London so we set up there. The same happened in New York so we set up there too. We now have Brands using Jobbio and posting jobs all over the world. Jobbio is the type of business that with unlimited funds we could potentially set up in any city in the world.

However, we don’t have unlimited funds, we are still a very young business with a lot to learn, we are entirely focused on getting it right in the three markets we are in. If we do get it right, who knows where next.

What would you say has been the most difficult part of your journey so far?

You always have to have enough momentum to keep the show on the road. That can be challenging, the stats on the startup survival rate illustrate that. You have to convince others that this is a business that can have a significant impact on the market. You need to be able to convince staff – who could work anywhere else, investors – who can choose from thousands of companies to invest in, and then users / customers – to use your products above others. Staying alive long enough to prove you are right can be the difficult bit.

Anything you’d do differently?

Of course, put there is no point in thinking about it for too long. You have to look forward and keep moving at speed, part of the fabric of being a startup is applying new thinking to every problem – sometimes you get it wrong, just try to get it right more than wrong!
