CNick, Business Showcase
Describe the company – the elevator pitch
CNICK makes identification absolutely effortless and secure. We convert a bulky wallet into a fashionable tiny ring.
How are you different?
There are tons of wearables around, including multiple smart rings. But most of them have focus on features’ amount rather than usability, reliability and design. We have very solid vision about future ID carrier – it is battery-free, convenient and highly secure.
Our first product CNICK Ring is fully handcrafted, made from exotic wood and stone inlays. The design is customizable and we managed to make the ring thinnest and the lightest compared to any other existing wearable in the market, that makes our rings the most comfortable to wear as well.
CNICK stands out with the usability even more. Beside enabling payments using the ring, we are developing unique platform with tons of applications for unifying tickets, access cards and digital identification tools in one ecosystem. Example is our partnership with Georgian cinema theaters, which enabled CNICK customers to have access into the cinema using the ring instead of paper ticket or QR code.
Why will you do well?
Team enthusiasm, Community support and clear vision gives us confidence CNICK can become leading wearable manufacturer in the near future.
Where are you based?
We are based in Georgia. We have an office and manufacturing facility both in Tbilisi.
When was the company launched?
CNICK was launched in 2017.
What have been your biggest wins to date?
We have won multiple startup competitions, which enabled us to develop and launch CNICK Ring, but our biggest win is the global community we have developed during the last two years, which consists of early adopters and technology enthusiasts who share our vision and support us at every step of the journey.
Who are you trying to attract to your product?
There are three types of people: those who love rings, who haven’t tried yet but are willing to wear because of the beautiful design and functionality and those who have negative past experience with the rings, like losing engagement ring or just don’t like ring form-factor. Fortunately, the first two are the majority – Mostly these are young technology enthusiasts, who are cashless, love novelty and welcome changes, thus this is our initial sweet spot.
In the long term we try to make CNICK suitable for everyone, even now we made CNICK Ring fully customizable to enable every type of person to express own style. We also develop unique product fit for the specific communities, one of our recent campaigns is around Crypto edition rings, which have cryptocurrency symbols engraved and covered with gold and silver.
What tips would you give to others looking to build their business?
Building a company from scratch is a long journey, which requires enormous effort and dedication from the founders. It is teamwork and finding startup cofounder is the most important decision you can make after deciding founding a company, next few years you will spend most of your time together. At the product development stage try to keep everything simple and launch MVP as soon as possible. After launching product be ready for the pivot.
Tell us about your team?
We are a team of young entrepreneurs, Three Co-Founders, having great experience of working together on multiple tech projects starting at university. Unifying engineering, designing and sales skills.
What are your plans for the future?
We are focused on global market and we plan to expand fast. We started by launching RFID ring at amazon.com. Next step is enabling CNICK ring payments in Europe after successfully testing in Georgia. Beside the ring we are developing new form factors and integrating more and more partners in our platform.
What tech gadgets do you wish you could use to help you?
I’m very enthusiastic about flexible electronics and nanomaterials. I appreciate every step made toward this direction and will be happy to have few tiny health monitoring sensors in the future.
