Describe the company – the elevator pitch …
We are aviation software developers. We enable disruptive apps in the sector, deliver new revenue streams to airlines and maximise the passenger experience. Aviation is the world’s most exciting industry and we love helping people to fly.
How are you different?
Our connected aircraft platform is a software ecosystem that works on any suitable hardware. We deliver full connectivity and let the airline’s apps talk to each other, to the aircraft, to everyone along the chain who needs access to content, data and useful analytics.
Why will the company / product do well?
The aviation sector is ripe for disruption as most of the perceived value is locked up in hardware. There are only so many planes in the sky and new aircraft production is limited, so software is what can add personalisation, experience and value – not in five years’ time, but in five months’ time.

Where are you based?
We have an office in Silicon Docks, at South Cumberland Street, Dublin 2. You can see Google from our conference room, but we feel that we have a better office culture and better growth prospects.
When was the company launched?
We embraced aviation in 2010, with the launch of the world’s first pilot EFB iPad viewer (electronic flight bag, which digitally replaces the up to 40kg of paper manuals that aircraft must carry). We’re proud that Ryanair were our first aviation customer.
What have been your biggest wins to date?
We’re chuffed that our software is used by many of the world’s biggest, most profitable and most-loved airlines, including Ryanair, Aer Lingus, Qatar Airways and Cathay Pacific. We plan to make some very exciting new customer announcements in the coming months.

What type of people (market segment) are you trying to attract to your product?
Our software securely connects everyone across the airline, so must appeal to everyone from pilots to passengers. For example, our CloudStore Wireless IFE is driven by big data analytics, great content, flexible connectivity and the best possible passenger experience. Back at ground operations, customised dashboards provide granular insight, measurably improve real-time decision making and generate ancillary revenues. Our focus on the user experience means that we can deliver benefits to everyone along the journey.
Tell us about your team?
We’ve built an amazing team, with great depth. Many of our crew members have aviation backgrounds and we match that experience with some of the finest programmers and designers that are working anywhere in the world today. We invest as much time and effort in our software architecture as we do in the front end, so we own our stack and everything is scalable, responsive and future-proof. We work very hard and we like to play hard too. When you work in aviation, everything is sexier.
What are your long term plans for your product / company?
To be the world’s number one aviation software developers.
What are your favourite tech gadgets?
Tesla Model S *2, Asus Zen2, Google Cardboard, anything Apple, Airbus A350, Boeing B737-800. There are some drones in the office.
What tech gadgets do you wish you could use to help you?
Developer cloning technology would help us to boost productivity.
Anything else you’d like to add / we should have asked?
We’re going through an exciting growth phase at the moment, so all talented developers should drop by our careers page. It helps if you’re a Java genius and an aviation geek (#avgeek), but we’re flexible. We’re also very interested in talking to tech sales and marketing livewires.
