BT IRELAND SIGNS MULTI-MILLION EURO DEAL WITH BLACKNIGHT SOLUTIONS

BT Ireland has secured a four-million-euro deal with Blacknight Solutions, providing the web hosting specialist with integrated data centre, network and infrastructure services to support its rapidly growing business.

As part of the multi-year deal, Irish-owned Blacknight, a leader in domain registration and web hosting services, will relocate a large part of its data infrastructure to BT’s state-of-the-art data centre environment in Dublin’s Citywest. Blacknight, which provides servers, co-location services and cloud-based Windows and Linux applications, will leverage BT’s integrated telecommunications and IT services, as it grows its business throughout Europe and beyond.

Commenting on the deal, Michele Neylon, CEO of Blacknight, said: “This is a significant investment for Blacknight, which will enable us to completely refresh and enhance our data infrastructure and expand our network capacity. BT Ireland’s global capability, reliability, and proven record in data security makes the company an ideal partner as we continue to provide our customers with market-leading cloud and hosting services.”

Peter Evans, director of wholesale and strategy at BT Ireland, added: “In a complex market and an increasingly cloud-based economy, BT is uniquely positioned to bring telecommunications and IT services together in one streamlined solution. Blacknight’s multi-year commitment to BT services is a testament to our ability to deliver resilient and reliable data services and connectivity that our clients can trust.”

BT‘s 183,000 sq. ft. data centre in Citywest is the only carrier-neutral data centre in Ireland with a wholly owned global network. It provides the capacity, connectivity, security and resilience to host business critical services and highly sensitive data, under-pinned by BT’s global network.
