Bord na Móna Accelerate Green 2023 Open for Applications Until 2nd December

Bord na Móna are reminding Irish companies that applications to the Accelerate Green accelerator programme will close on Friday 2nd of December.

Any early-stage company involved in developing products and services based on green innovation is encouraged to apply to the Accelerate Green programme.

Bord na Móna has undergone a significant transformation from a traditional peat-based business to a progressive climate-solutions focused company. In the past year they have invested more than 90% in areas such as renewable energy, land use change and the circular economy. As they redefine their role in tackling the challenges posed by the climate crisis, they are interested in partnering with leading companies and organisations to develop new approaches for climate action.

One of these approaches is Accelerate Green which is the first programme of its kind in Ireland. It was developed by Bord na Móna in conjunction with Resolve Partners and is delivered in person in Boora, Co. Offaly. The programme is designed to support early-stage companies leading the response to climate action and sustainability in Ireland.

Over the course of the programme, successful companies will be brought through a series of deep learning and mentoring with experts from enterprise and energy agencies, Irish corporates, research networks, investors and successful business leaders as well as access to Bord na Móna’s commercial expertise and knowledge.

Previous companies that have successfully taken part in Accelerate Green include Borrisoleigh Bottling Ltd, GoEve, Real Leaf Farm, EpiSensor, Jones Celtic BioEnergy (JCBE) and Positive Carbon.

Brendan Carroll, CEO of Limerick headquartered company Episensor, is encouraging companies operating in the sustainability sector to apply. He said: “Accelerate Green gave me time and headspace while being challenged on strategy, that has been really important for our progression and growth with our corporate partners. Being part of a community of founders, all aligned on a climate/sustainability track is also a big peer mentor support. The breadth of speakers and mentors across the programme is both challenging and hugely worthwhile.”

Echoing Brendan’s advice, Dermot Honan, CEO of Borrisoleigh Bottling Ltd (BBL) said: “I would highly recommend the programme to any business that is already in the start-up or growth phase. Programme leaders and peers will constructively challenge your core assumptions which should ultimately result in a better outcome and/or product”.
