Blocknubie appoints Irish Entrepreneur Fran Rooney as Chairman

Blocknubie, the global ecosystem for startups in Blockchain, has appointed Irish entrepreneur Fran Rooney as Chairman.

Rooney is a well-known Irish businessman who rose to prominence as the CEO of cyber security firm Baltimore Technologies. Under his stewardship the Irish company became a global player with 23 offices in cities across the world, was listed on both NASDAQ and the London Stock Exchange (listed on FTSE 100) with a market capitalisation of €13.6 billion, and had 1400 employees.

Rooney is currently a practicing Barrister at Law and has been active in the emerging Blockchain space holding chairs in a number of Irish and UK Blockchain companies.

His appointment follows the announcement of Jillian Godsil as CEO of Blocknubie.

Godsil is a founder and CEO of corporates working in Sydney, Singapore, London and Dublin. She has partnered with multinationals and startups. She has advised CEOs across the world. She has more than 30 years’ experience working with FinTech companies internationally.

Rooney says: “I am very excited to be part of the emerging Blockchain industry and l believe Blocknubie is brilliantly positioned to develop a niche position in this rapidly growing technology space. We have a very solid team with vast experience and I expect the company to develop.”

Godsil welcomed Rooney’s appointment. “I have known and worked with Fran over the past twenty years and always found him to be an excellent businessman and an insightful entrepreneur with strong principles and integrity. I look forward very much to working with him going forward in this exciting industry.

“Credit must be paid too to the original founder of Blocknubie, Loughlin Nestor. We joined forces in the project back in March and have an excellent working relationship. He now moves into the COO position where his implementation skills will serve this project very well.”

Blocknubie is a platform and marketplace that acts as a bridge between off-chain organisations, startups and the Blockchain ecosystem. The Blocknubie platform guides Blockchain startups towards setting up business quickly and effectively, complemented with a number of DApps to enhance their success, structure and speed.

Blocknubie will focus on meeting the full range of Blockchain entrepreneurial needs including democratisation of access to capital, entrepreneurship education, networking opportunities, as well as building an environment that supports investment in Blockchain startups and enterprise.

Nestor says: “By bringing together this very powerful management team I am very confident Blocknubie will continue to make great strides and become the de facto startup ecosystem for all things blockchain.”
