Bank of Ireland Tablet App Wins Three Appys

Bank of Ireland has won three Appys Awards for its Tablet App – a Gold for the Best Branded App and two Silver Appys for Best Tablet App and Best Financial Services App.

Speaking about the win, Garvan Callan, Customer, Digital and Innovation Director at Bank of Ireland said “We are delighted to win three awards at the Appys. We worked very hard on the development of our tablet app, involving customers in its design, making sure it was easy to navigate with full access to all of the functionality our customers are looking for. We are thrilled to get the recognition for our App, and we will continue to improve it as both the technology and our product offerings are enhanced over time. Our priority now is to launch an Android version of the app to customers this December.

We are committed to making banking easy and convenient for Bank of Ireland customers, whether it is by phone, in branch, online, mobile and now on tablet,” said Garvan Callan.  “Digital banking usage in Ireland has almost tripled since 2010, so it was important for us to develop an app specifically for tablet devices as they are becoming more prevalent in our daily lives. Our focus was on ensuring that it would enhance our customers’ banking experience, using the features and technology behind these devices to allow them to manage accounts, view financial graphs and apply for additional Bank of Ireland services.

We tested our prototypes with our customers to ensure we had their needs in mind and to understand where and when they choose to use their devices. With an estimated tablet penetration rate of 50pc in Ireland by 2015, we understand that access to an intuitive and engaging tablet banking app is important to our growing customer base.”
