Amazon Web Services (AWS), the world’s leading cloud services provider, has announced the 2024 IMAGINE Grant programme is open for applications from non-profits across Ireland to help them use cloud technology to achieve their mission. This is the first time the programme has been expanded to include registered charities based in Ireland. The award package includes up to $50,000 in unrestricted funding, up to $16,000 in AWS Promotional Credits plus access to AWS technical support and marketing.
The Go Further, Faster award will provide support for highly innovative projects that leverage advanced cloud services, such as artificial intelligence (AI)/machine learning (ML), high-performance computing (HPC), the Internet of Things (IoT), and more. These projects will have the potential to produce scaled, repeatable solutions and may impact an entire industry or field. That being said, AWS seeks to fund a diverse set of projects that leverage cloud technology for mission impact across the non-profit sector, not just limited to those technologies. All eligible organisations are welcome to apply and don’t need to be using cloud today.
“The AWS IMAGINE Grant programme in Ireland underscores our commitment to fostering innovation and driving positive change within the non-profit sector,” said Charlotte Jouffray, AWS Non-Profit Account Manager for Ireland. “We are providing unrestricted funding and resources, with the goal of empowering Irish non-profit organisations to use cloud technology to address some of the most pressing societal challenges faced by communities in Ireland and the world today.”
Sylvester Murphy, CEO Enclude said: “Enclude is delighted to collaborate with AWS on its Imagine Grant Programme in Ireland which will be a key driver of empowering the non-profit sector here to use technology and the Cloud as a means of advancing their mission critical goals.
“At Enclude we help non-profit organisations to enhance their services through systematic and innovative use of technology and are committed to helping them make a positive impact in the communities they serve. We are truly excited to work with AWS on its Imagine Grant programme and ensure that Irish non-profits are supported and rewarded on their technology adoption journeys.”
As part of the global grant programme, AWS seeks proposals for big ideas on how to leverage technology in new and innovative ways to accelerate impact in local and global communities.
Previous IMAGINE Grant winners are applying AWS technologies across a diverse set of use cases and mission areas, such as using HPC to analyse massive amounts of climate data, applying advanced AWS data and analytics tools to enable medical research, and modernising and streamlining data systems to boost fundraising operations. The first round of applications opens on the 3rd of May, 2024.
Since the initiative’s launch in 2018, AWS has awarded more than $7 million USD in unrestricted funding, credits, and training support to 92 non-profit organisations in the USA and the United Kingdom. These grants have played a pivotal role in enabling non-profits to transform and innovate within their respective industries.
