We will be reviewing this phone, so first up are the technical specs on it.
ASUS today announced the long-anticipated ZenFone 7 series, the most powerful generation ever in the cutting-edge ZenFone smartphone family. ZenFone 7 Pro and ZenFone 7 feature the world’s first triple-camera Flip Camera, which elevates smartphone photography and videography to unprecedented new heights.
The series debuts an evolved Flip Camera with a triple front and rear camera system, which includes a 64 MP Sony IMX686 wide-angle main camera, a Sony IMX363 ultrawide-angle camera, and a telephoto camera. Both the wide-angle and ultrawide-angle cameras support optical image stabilisation, which provides optimal focusing and blur-free photos and videos. ZenFone 7 can record up to 8K video and include professional-level video-recording features such as HyperSteady, Wind Filter and Mic Focus.
The 6.67-inch all-screen 90 Hz / 1 ms AMOLED NanoEdge notchless display has a Delta-E < 1 colour accuracy, delivering ultrasmooth visuals and stunning colour fidelity. The display also supports HDR10+ for true-to-life visuals. ZenFone 7 Pro is powered by the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 865 Plus 5G Mobile Platform, providing users with premium performance and blazing-fast connection speeds via 5G connectivity.
A long-lasting 5000 mAh battery provides up to two days of continuous use, and Qualcomm® Quick Charge™ provides fast charging speeds. ZenUI 7 is the enhanced user interface that provides the essentials for a straightforward and intuitive user experience, and Smart Key has been relocated to the side and integrated with the power button and fingerprint sensor for user-friendly unlocking and shortcuts.
Offering the same incredible photography and video recording features as the Pro model, ZenFone 7 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 5G Mobile Platform with up to 8 GB LPDDR5 RAM and up to 128 GB UFS 3.1 ROM.

Evolved Flip Camera
ZenFone 7 series features the ground-breaking Flip Camera, a motorized flip-up module with an evolved triple-camera system that offers the same high-resolution capabilities whether the module is front-facing or rear-facing. The main camera is a Sony IMX686 64 MP high-resolution wide-angle camera with Quad Bayer technology and enhanced light sensitivity for stunning photos — day or night.
A secondary ultrawide-angle camera is powered by a Sony IMX363 sensor with dual-pixel phase-detection autofocus for maintaining an ultrasharp focus on subjects, and this camera supports up to 4 cm macro photography for incredibly detailed close-up shots. The third camera is a telephoto camera, which enables 3X optical zoom, up to 12X total zoom with optical image stabilisation, and seamless transitions between cameras while recording.
ZenFone 7 Pro and ZenFone 7 provide a video recording experience like no other smartphone. The wide-angle camera features industry-leading 8K 30 fps video recording with electronic image stabilisation, and the ultrawide-angle camera offers 4K 60 fps recording, enabling users to capture every moment in high-quality detail. This generation comes with new video features, including HyperSteady, Free Zoom, and Pro video mode for giving videos the professional touch. With three microphones, ZenFone 7 smartphones record high-quality audio while shooting, and audio can also be optimised with functions such as Wind Filter, Mic Focus, and Acoustic Focus for focusing on and isolating the sounds of selected objects.
The evolved Flip Camera offers incredible new and upgraded features. Quick-angle shooting quickly adjusts the Flip Camera to one of three customisable positions via the camera interface, and users can set these positions according to their favorite camera angles. Several popular previous-generation features have been retained or upgraded. Auto Panorama can now use the ultrawide-angle camera for vast, immersive panoramic shots, and Motion Tracking 2.0 automatically tracks subjects and seamlessly zooms in to always keep the subject in centre-frame.
The Flip Camera module is constructed from liquid metal and driven by a new, simpler, yet more powerful stepper motor. An angle sensor has been added for more precise control of the flip angle. The sensor also ensures that Flip Camera is always in a safe position, and it records the user’s three favourite quick angle shooting positions for fast adjustment.
A G-sensor detects if the phone is falling and automatically retracts Flip Camera to a safe position.
ZenFone 7 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 865 Plus, which enables staggering multi-gigabit 5G connectivity, advanced WiFi 6 performance, desktop-level gaming with ultra-realistic graphics, professional-quality high-resolution photography, and intuitive AI experiences. ZenFone 7 Pro has 8 GB LPDDR5 RAM and a 256 GB UFS 3.1 ROM for massive storage and quick access speeds. ZenFone 7 features the Snapdragon 865 5G Mobile Platform, with up to 8 GB LPDDR5 RAM and a 128 GB UFS 3.1 ROM.
ZenFone 7 series smartphones have a monster 5000 mAh battery that provides up to two days of battery life and supports Quick Charge for fast charging. A new battery-care system offers multiple settings that prevent battery drain from excessive charging and several power-saving functions that protect the battery’s lifespan.
Stunning all-screen display
ZenFone 7 series delivers a true all-screen viewing experience that’s unparalleled. The 6.67-inch all-screen AMOLED NanoEdge display is notchless and features near-invisible bezels, a 90 Hz refresh rate, and a 1 ms response time for smooth, immersive visuals. The display also offers Delta-E < 1 colour accuracy, cinema-grade 110% DCI-P3 colour gamut, and HDR10+ support for true-to-life colours and detail. Up to 700-nit brightness improves screen readability in any lighting, and DC Dimming technology reduces screen flicker in low-light conditions for comfortable viewing anytime. For additional eye protection, the display is certified by the testing and verification company SGS as an Eye Care Display that reduces blue-light levels by 70% compared with most LCD smartphone displays.
Simple, fast experience with ZenUI 7
ZenUI 7 is the streamlined ZenFone 7 user interface that provides the essentials for a straightforward and intuitive user experience. ZenUI 7 offers more settings this generation for personalisation, such as the option to customise icon color, icon shape, and font, and users can also control the system animations without entering the developer settings.
The Smart Key feature from the previous generation has been relocated to the side of the phone and has been integrated with the power button and fingerprint sensor for user-friendly unlocking and shortcuts. It can be customised to initiate popular actions, including Google Assistant tasks. It offers double press and press-and-hold modes that can be assigned to different actions, such as opening favourite apps.
