By @SimonCocking. The biggest tech event at the RDS this year takes place this Wednesday, May 25th. We interviewed one of the speakers and leading mentor and business advisor Breandan Goss to learn more about the insights he will be sharing on Wednesday. Why did you chose to speak at this event?
I was invited to speak at the event and I’m not one to look a gift horse in the mouth! The reason I’m looking forward to it is because I think I have some interesting insights to offer entrepreneurs, researchers and business owners who are looking to raise capital and grow their businesses – the conference offers a perfect forum to help demystify, amongst other things, the process of building and capitalising a business.
What are you going to talk about?
In brief – “Alignment”; why and how you should get yourself “investment ready” and how you might deploy those funds…
Why will it be useful to attend?
There’s great diversity within the technology and creative industries right now in Ireland but too often these skillsets exit in silos – a major free-form conference with a cluster of speakers and engagements is a great way to stimulate networking and encourage people to absorb and learn from the experiences of others….
What tips would you give to people looking to start and grow their own businesses?
Be brutally honest with yourself – have you got the insight, stamina, faith, determination, stubbornness required to create a product or service that satisfies a need that does not yet exist ?
3 exhortations from the The Book of Jobs
Trust your gut – You can’t connect the dots looking forwards, you can only connect them in hindsight”
Embrace setbacks and learn from them
Stay hungry and stay foolish (although worth reviewing if you’re pushing 40!)
Where can people learn more about you?

If your business is investment ready or approaching a growth phase after a period of sustained organic growth, we will target the best form of investment for you and help negotiate the most beneficial terms possible in order to help you scale and develop your business in the most efficient and value enhancing way possible. More importantly perhaps, we will advise you as to whether or not your business is ready for investment so you do not waste valuable capital resources on futile and costly fund raising strategies.
For more established businesses, we will also advise on merger and acquisition possibilities for you as well as on succession issues which may eventually arise.
