The Wall Street Journal tweeted earlier that Facebook and BlackBerry met last week to discuss a possible bid. There’s little details other than that at present but it would certainly be one of the better options we’ve heard so far.
Entering the phone market is certainly something Facebook seems interested in. We’ve seen two so called Facebook phones made by HTC, neither of which were successful so buying a phone manufacturer outright may seem like a good move for Facebook. There’s also the sweetener for Facebook that they’d get their hands on a recently expanded BBM service which has gained 20 million users in the last week alone.
Seeing how much buying a failing device manufacturer has cost and is still costing Google may be a cause of concern for them though!
