Irish company Anam Technologies will host the GSMA Wholesale Agreements and Solutions Group (WAS) Event, which is expected to attract over 1,200 international telecoms participants, in Dublin. The 4-day event will take place in the Convention Centre Dublin from 31st October to 3rd November 2016 and will include a gala hospitality evening on 1st November.
The GSMA is a global industry body representing the interests of nearly 800 mobile operators and 250 companies from the broader mobile ecosystem, including handset and device makers, software companies, equipment providers and Internet companies. This event is a meeting of the GSMA WAS Group, the forum for GSMA members from the mobile network operators and vendor communities to work on commercial solutions to support the rollout and maintenance of international roaming and interworking services.
The GSMA selected Dublin as the location for the upcoming WAS Event based on several factors, such as the global accessibility and stability of the location and the quality of Dublin’s Convention Centre facility, as well as Anam’s support of the GSMA and its enthusiasm and competence to host the event. In the past, this meeting has been held in such places as Bangkok, Brussels and Dubai and hosting an international event of this stature in Dublin is a significant honour.
“We are very pleased to be holding our upcoming WAS Event in Dublin,” said Naomi Cogan, Manager, Working Groups – GSMA. “Our October event marks a return of the event to Dublin, as we staged it here in 2000, and we are happy to be coming back with an expanded programme and audience.”
Welcoming the news, Noel Kelly, Chief Executive of Anam stated that “hosting the event in Dublin literally brings potential customers right to our doorstep. It’s of enormous significance in the context of our business development strategy and reflects Anam’s strong position in this global industry.”
Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD said: “At the heart of our Action Plan for Jobs is supporting exporting companies based in Ireland to win new markets, sell more of their products and services abroad and create jobs. We have put in place a range of measures to make it easier for them to do this, including doubling the number of trade missions and placing extra IDA and Enterprise Ireland staff overseas. However we can do more marketing in Ireland by attracting more buyers to Ireland and taking greater advantage of events happening here. The news that this major mobile telecoms conference is coming to Ireland is a great win for the country, and will bring huge benefits not just in terms of the hospitality industry, but also crucially for our innovative exporting companies who will get access to these important decision-makers. I commend Noel and all his team at Anam on this achievement and wish them every success for the future”.
