Hosted by the UCD Innovation Academy in Newman House, this was an interesting evening. It is a good indication of how product design is coming to play a greater role in the development of new products.
Alex Milton, mentioned his background in product design in the car industry and then at NCAD, before heading up the Irish Design 2015 campaign. He spoke about the emergence of ‘design thinking’ and evolution of the idea to create people centered design,
He outlined the plan to run a series of activities in 2015. Milton stressed though that he is open to ideas and suggestions about possible activities that could take place next year too. If you have an interesting idea, have a look at the categories they are planning to fund. If it straddles several, or does not quite fit into any of the categories, to then approach Irish Design and see if something can be worked out.
