We look at this hard wearing, industry focussed device, the Algiz RT8 ultra rugged device. You can see more about their products on the website here.
This product is very much aimed at industry use-cases, situations where just using a regular commercial tablet device could end in tears. This product is specifically aimed at companies and projects who have mobile workers in remote & rugged outdoor locations or those who work in industrial environments. Though, having had a few tablets smashed in the domestic arena too, it could also work well school classroom environments and other locations where hands are grubby, messy and perhaps also not perfectly coordinated either.
The aim of Algiz RT8 is to be rugged and tough wearing. Straight out of the box our testers understood this without having to be explicitly told. There was little concern that it was not as pretty or finessed (we’re thinking brushed aluminium finish etc), there were more concerned with booting it up and getting it running the programs they wanted to execute on it. In this regard the device performed well and the users enjoyed using it, found it logical, intuitive and fun to use.
Our testers did look for a cradle or stand for the device, but that might perhaps be an extra accessory that has to be bought individually. Naturally they improvised, and here the value of the rugged design ensures that, even if you don’t have the right stand for it, you can improvise and it works fine too. There is also an accessories option on their website here. This is a new company to us, and it is the first device of theirs that we have reviewed, however our testers were all impressed with its performance and happy to have road tested it, and, most metaphorically, bounced it around.
The Algiz RT8 ultra-rugged tablet is prepared for whatever the outside environment delivers — extreme temperatures, vibration, drops, water, and dust. This popular 8-inch tablet allows faster and more efficient work in the field.

“All new devices will come with Android 11, but with this operating system upgrade current users can can keep the familiar and functional device they know, but also add the improved security features of Android 11,” says Johan Hed, director of product management at Handheld Group. “Plus, the Enterprise Recommended certification proves that the Algiz RT8 has been certified by Google to meet stringent enterprise-focused requirements, adding an extra level of quality assurance for our customers.”
Ultra-rugged Efficiency
Imagine doing the same work you do now, but doing it better. The Algiz RT8 is a unique 8-inch Android tablet computer built specifically to increase fieldwork efficiency. Work faster, with more focus and fewer interruptions. The Algiz RT8 is ultra-rugged, with a stunning screen, user-friendly design, a range of built-in tools and optional accessories, and even a suite of free mobile device management software. We’d say this tablet can do everything a consumer tablet can do, but that’s not quite true — it can do much more.
