Adnexa wins Best Innovation award at Airline Chief Digital and Innovation Officer Summit in China

Comtrade Digital Services, the software engineering services and solutions provider, has received a Best Innovation Award for Adnexa – the platform enabling airlines to monetise their data and bring their ancillary revenues to the next level. Marko Javornik, VP/GM of Mobility & Travel at Comtrade Digital Services, accepted the award at the Airline Chief Digital and Innovation Officer Summit on Tuesday 4th December in Shanghai, China.

The event is organised by the Shanghai Society of Aeronautics (SSA) and China Eastern Airlines. As well as inspiring discussions and presentations, a number of companies picked up awards for their great work and achievements at the summit. Comtrade’s mobility & travel team collected a Best Innovation Award for its fully automated Adnexa platform, which pairs passenger data with relevant advertising content, enabling airlines to create new revenue streams.

Marko Javornik, VP/GM Mobility & Travel, Comtrade Digital Services, commented: “Ancillary airline revenues have increased significantly over the last 10 years, to the extent that they are now a necessary source of profit. However, competition remains high in the industry which means airlines have to be digitally innovative if they are to stand out and capitalise on such opportunities. Adnexa enables them to do this and we are deeply honoured that its capabilities have been recognised in China.”

Adnexa allows airlines to control what advertising content their passengers are exposed to and through which channels, such as boarding passes, booking confirmation emails or in-flight entertainment. It thus improves the passenger experience, allowing travellers to only see advertising content that is relevant to their personal profile and travel preferences. It is built to manage a high volume of advertising placements and helps to turn these impressions into revenue without burdening either airlines, advertisers or passengers with unwanted technology.

Christopher Keen, Managing Director for Platforms & Products, Comtrade Digital Services, who also presented Adnexa at the summit, said: “It was a privilege to present our platform at the conference, at a time when digitalisation is gathering such pace within the Chinese aviation market. We have identified strong local partners to pursue opportunities in this fast-paced market and look forward to implementing the platform as a powerful tool to assist airlines in their pursuit of higher ancillary revenue generation.”
