Social Media Live, a new festival that will showcase the latest technologies that are influencing social media in the RDS on October 25th, in partnership with Olytico, captured over 22,000 tweets during last night’s live Presidential debate on RTE’s Prime Time, with President Michael D Higgins featuring in over 27% of all tweets. The data was gathered from over 6,000 Twitter accounts sent between 8pm and midnight on October 23rd:
Commenting on the last debate in which all six candidates in the 2018 presidential election will take part in a live television broadcast together, social media analysis by Stephen O’Leary, CEO of Olytico and Social Media Live speaker, found that; “the final debate generated the highest level of engagement on Twitter, with over 22,000 tweets published last evening about the RTE Prime Time broadcast. While he may not have been the most vocal candidate during the debate, President Michael D Higgins was the most mentioned – featuring in over 27% of all tweets – more than double the volume generated by any other candidate”.
