CEO and co-founder of Web Summit, Paddy Cosgrave, has been announced as recipient of the Outstanding Contribution Award at the 2018 Event Industry Awards on Friday July 20th.
The award will recognise and celebrate Mr. Cosgrave’s achievements which began in Ireland and transformed into a global revolution. This prestigious award is one of many within the Event Industry Awards to acknowledge excellence, showcase the high standards in Ireland’s event industry and provide an opportunity for the industry to come together and celebrate with peers.
To mark the occasion, Anna May McHugh, the driving force behind the National Ploughing Championships and the original recipient of the award ten years ago, will honour Mr. Cosgrave with the prestigious award.
The awards ceremony, now in its 10th year, will be held in the 4* Citywest Hotel in Dublin and will celebrate the creativity and innovation of the Ireland’s vibrant events industry. As a venue synonymous with hosting events on a global scale and following significant recent investment, Citywest Hotel presents the perfect backdrop to an event which recognises the world-class achievements of the events industry in Ireland.
Commenting on the award, Paddy Cosgrave said; “It’s an honour be recognised in this way by other professionals in the Irish event industry. It has been amazing to me to see how our flagship event, Web Summit has grown. It started with just 400 people in 2010 and there will be about 70,000 people in Lisbon this November. I work with a team of incredibly talented individuals who consistently deliver world-class events at scale across Europe, Asia and North America. The team has grown to nearly 200 and I am proud that we are still headquartered in Ireland.”
Eugene Bortolozzo, founder of the Event Industry Awards said, ’To honour Paddy, and by extension Web Summit, through making this award is a privilege for me personally and the Event Industry Awards as a whole. The awards are about excellence and there is no better embodiment of event excellence than this year’s recipient of the Outstanding Contribution Award. Mr. Paddy Cosgrave.’
