From one of the most celebrated and successful women in America. “Dream Big and Win’’ By Liz Elting, is a newly released book discussing the journey to creating her own company successfully and her advice on how to do so. Her story is an inspiring one of difficult lessons to be learnt and being able to get back on your feet after hardships.

This book offers insight to the stepping stones of entrepreneurship and leadership.  I found this book to be relatable and helpful. Elting’s personal story is truly motivating and admirable. The author shows resilience in her career and has clear values that she shares throughout the book. She shares her experience of sexism in the workplace and I particularly liked her mindset here when she said,

“I didn’t want to become one of them to succeed’’ meaning she didn’t want to trade her femininity to thrive in a male dominated workplace. The author has some humorous lines, throughout the book and at the beginning of chapters. I found her to be likable as a narrator and therefore valued her advice. It also broke up the facts and statistics nicely. Some of the quotes added to the book seem slightly unnecessary or irrelevant at times, but the overall structure and takeaways were positive.

I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone, not just in terms of business, but also to anyone looking to hear an inspiring story of someone who overcame many obstacles thrown in their path. It makes for a suitable read for young adults, who may encounter similar situations to Elting. Any young adult readers may be able relate if they are in the midst of creating their own companies.

This book would be useful for fresh business starters, and give them guidance on what mistakes to avoid. The book provides helpful tips on hiring your first employees, dealing with unpleasant clients, market research, interviewing, and more.
