850K Android phones now being activated each day.

Google’s Andy Rubin announced some interesting stats today. There are now 850,000 Android devices being activated each day. This represents a year on year increase of 250% with over 300 million Android devices now registered in total, of which 12 million are tablets.  These figures don’t include the Amazon Kindle Fire.

Android passed 700,000 activation’s back in late December and is showing no sign of slowing down at present. The question remains though to see if it can maintain it’s increase at this level and hit 1 million activation’s per day.

Also announced today was that there are now 450,000 Apps available for download from the Android Market. This time last year during the Mobile World Congress there were only 150,000 Apps available.
