7 Keys to Navigating a Crisis: A Practical Guide to Emotionally Dealing with Pandemics & Other Disasters is a must-read for anyone seeking to thrive during these turbulent times. In our interconnected world, we are all vulnerable and impacted (directly or indirectly) by global events. In this easy-to-read book, Dr Elia Gourgouris and Konstantinos Apostolopoulos provide 7 Keys to Navigating a Crisis. These powerful yet practical insights, help minimize the negative impact of pandemics, natural disasters, financial meltdowns, or any other major disruptions on our lives.
Drawing from a wealth of personal and professional experiences, the authors share simple truths that have helped many of their clients thrive in the face of adversity. This practical guide is full of “Points to Ponder”, “Questions to Consider”, and “Action Items” that can help readers apply the information directly to their lives. Whether the crisis is global or personal, this book can help the reader navigate and rise above these challenges.
It has already been predicted that the next pandemic could be a PTSD one. Very quickly, and with little to no warning, we have been plunged into a massive recalibration of how to live our daily lives. How to assess risk, what is a dangerous activity, is flying dangerous? Possibly. Is going to the pub? Quite likely? How about hanging out in large crowds? Very much so.
A book like this is therefore a logical one to have written. We have had other similar potentially pandemic outbreaks, which, thankfully subsided before having a global impact. Thank goodness ebola never went global, that sounded like a truly horrible way to die, as your insides putrified. Of course covid-19 is not a pleasant way to die either, and it is already turning out that it may be persistent and repetitive. Having it once is not necessarily going to stop you having it again, and the debilitating effects of the first bout may well weaken you the next time you get it.
This book aims to get to grips with these challenges and covers seven interesting aspects; self-care, awareness, flexibility, preparation, initiative, positive attitude and kindness. You may not feel the need to take on all of those aspects, but they are certainly worth considering. The reality, even as we slowly come to accept this, is that we are looking at a current pandemic that will, in one form or another be around till at least 2021.
If not where you live, somewhere around the world, and consequently, as we have been, until now at least, living in a hyper connected world, this is something worth giving some thought to. In the same way the insights in this book are also worth considering, and assessing or rather reassessing how you plan to live your own life too.
