If you are starting out in business, one way you can significantly increase your chances of success is by reading books from leading experts & actually implementing what they teach you. I have read a lot of books related to business and personal development and below I want to share with you the top 5 that I believe will help new entrepreneurs the most.
Number 5
The 10X Rule by Grant Cardone: This was one of the first books I read (or listened to) about one year after I started my business. I can honestly say that the book lit a fire underneath me. The 10X Rule is simple, it says that you should 1) set targets for yourself that are 10X greater than what you believe you can achieve and 2) take actions that are 10X greater than what you believe are necessary to achieve your goals.
For me, the book helped me to think bigger, set bigger goals and back up these goals with massive action. While some people find it extremely hard to think big, this book will serve well those who are capable of doing so.
Number 4
#MaxOut Your Life by Ed Mylett: This is a short little booklet that you can readin a couple of hours. It will guide you on the path to becoming an elite performer in your life. The strategies and lessons in the book are extremely useful to any budding entrepreneur. My biggest takeaway from this book was learning of the reticular activating system or RAS which is a part of the brain. The RAS is the gatekeeper of what information your brain prioritizes and lets in. This is extremely important since we receive thousands of pieces of information every day and most of this is irrelevant to our goals or life.
For me, this revelation made me understand the importance of being clear on my goals and the purpose of writing them down each day. Once you are crystal clear on your goals, your brain’s RAS will actively look for information and opportunities that will bring you closer to your goals.
How powerful is that?
Number 3
How To Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie
Every business is a people business, unless you are selling to aliens of course. So presuming you are selling to people then that means it is important you have a basic understanding of how people think.
I won’t drop any spoilers but I will tell you that the lessons learned from this book has improved my skills in sales and marketing and as a result has positively impacted my business and my life.
Number 2
Profit First by Mike Michalowicz: If you are just starting out in business, you may not have any idea how to manage your money. While this may seem like not a big deal at the beginning, I assure you that setting this up from day one will save you a lot of heartache and financial stress down the line. The system I use to manage my money is the formula Profit First by Mike Michalowicz. The book is so insightful and I found the formula it lays out to be the missing key to my success. I would highly recommend diving into this book as soon as possible.
Number 1
Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki: Finally, we’re on to my favourite
financial book of all time Rich Dad Poor Dad. Reading the book was a real penny dropping moment for me. It explained in simple terms how to create wealth. You will learn why the rich buy assets and the poor buy liabilities. You will also learn how to turn your earned income into passive income which in turn will remove the need for you to ever work for money again but instead have money work for you. I would advise you strongly to read this book as soon as possible as the information inside can change your life for the better.
