World AI Cannes Festival: New annual set to take place for professionals and the general public

World AI Cannes Festival: creation of the artificial intelligence international event for professionals and the general public.

From 10th to 12th February 2022, the prestigious Palace of Festivals and Congresses in Cannes will host a new international event for professionals and the general public – the “World AI Cannes Festival” (WAICF), the world festival of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

For three days, Cannes will become the world capital of AI so as to present the major innovations, to offer a place for experimentation and discovery, and to make the general public aware of the economic, human, ethical and societal challenges of a rapidly evolving sector with infinite variations.

Organised by the Corp Agency (Big Data Paris & AI Paris, Quantum Business Europe, Voice Tech Paris, etc. trade fairs) and initiated by the City Hall of Cannes and its Palace of Festivals and Congresses, the Alpes-Maritimes Department and the Europia Institute, the WAICF will become a regular Cannes venue for a meeting to be held in February each year.

Faced with increasingly stiff global competition, this new event strengthens Cannes’ positioning as the leading French centre outside Paris for organising internationally influential trade shows.

“We are very proud to present the World Artificial Intelligence Cannes Festival! Talking about the future, this is what matters for the Alpes-Maritimes Department, and this is why we have been deeply involved in Artificial Intelligence for several years. It’s very important to understand what AI is in order to use it properly.

“The goal is to bring together companies and AI start-up, to offer them the opportunity to present their innovative ideas and to raise public awareness of the impact of new technologies in the economic fields and societal,” said Charles Ange Ginésy, President of the Alpes-Maritimes Department, President of the Artificial Intelligence Centre Joint Association.

“We are living in a period that is both exciting and one that calls for vigilant proactivity because artificial intelligence will change the world in all areas. This is an industrial revolution, a potential lever for prosperity, jobs and the transformation of our society that we must know how to master and regulate in order to serve the common good.

“In this regard, it is high time that France and Europe have great ambition and become digital powers to ensure their own sovereignty and respond to the technological, capital and ethical challenges of AI. However, for the moment, this future is being invented elsewhere, in the United States, China, Korea or Japan. We cannot give up this competition,” said David Lisnard, Mayor of Cannes.
