Leading women in Irish business and media are among a panel of inspiring speakers taking part in an online seminar hosted by WIN, the Women’s Inspire Network, to mark International Women’s Day (IWD) on Monday, 8 March, next. The event is about clicking refresh, collaborating and thinking differently.
TV news reporter Zara King and former politician, Mary Mitchell O’Connor, join organiser Samantha Kelly, the Women’s Inspire Network founder and social media trailblazer, to discuss empowering women to achieve their potential in life.
A global online forum for women in business, Samantha Kelly says the motivation behind the Women’s Inspire Network is for members to network and to learn from one other online. This is particularly important for the many women running their own small businesses who do not have the resources those in large companies enjoy, the WIN founder says.
“We will be celebrating Women and how they have coped during the past year, the journeys they have been on and tactics they have used to stay well, sane and get more sales during this challenging time”.
“Lack of confidence and support networks can hold women back, in business and in many walks of life. So, our aim is to support one another, online and in person, and International Women’s Day is an ideal time to reaffirm what women are capable of and to help them find their voice. Entrepreneurs usually pivot when needed and have had a lot of challenges during the pandemic. Some have had to learn technology, and some have had to network in a whole new way” she added.
The topic of women in leadership and promoting gender equality is close to the heart of Mary Mitchell O’Connor. The former politician will discuss motivation, goal setting and changing direction in life, in the context of her nine years in Dáil Éireann, during which time she held two separate Ministerial posts.
The advice from pioneering psychotherapist Mary McHugh is to lean into all that is, to trust your capability, and to soar with confidence, as the founder of Achill Counselling explains the importance of women letting go of whatever is pulling them down.
Practical business advice is on the agenda with Sharon Dmake, founder of Ireland’s Got Curves, whose topic is identifying your goals, ‘your why’, and your vision for success.
Anne Conlon, founder of All About Sales, shares her tried and tested formula for effective sales in a talk titled ‘Three easy ways to close that sale’.
There is also inspirational advice on starting a business from Charlotte Matabaro, CEO of Mohecan Male Grooming, who encourages women to ‘get above their station and fly higher’. She will also be talking about secret haters and getting above your station, something which is very apt at the moment with the rise in online trolling and abuse.
In addition, Samantha’s 21-year-old daughter Leah Cheung is going to speak about being young and starting a business despite being Type 1 diabetic and how she didn’t let it stop her chasing her dreams.
Getting Business Back on Track
Learning from someone in business who has travelled the path you are on is incredibly encouraging for women entrepreneurs, Samantha Kelly says, especially with the challenges the past year has presented in life and in business.
“Our seminar will feature successful business owners and motivational speakers who can help reboot our energy and enthusiasm and share invaluable tools for entrepreneurs to get their businesses back on track”, the seminar organiser says.
With many Irish businesses going online in recent years, a trend rapidly accelerated during Covid-19, the seminar also addresses the pressing need for practical advice, including social media skills, to survive and thrive online.
Samantha Kelly will present on creative techniques to build a social following. The social media strategist, also known as Ireland’s Tweeting Goddess’ will tell delegates how to establish their niche online and become the ‘Go To’ person in their sector.
How to create successful live videos and have confidence on camera is the topic of Jennifer Watson, Social Media Manager at Agorapulse, a social media software provider, gold sponsors of the event and supporters of the Women’s Inspire Network.
The media specialist has fresh ideas for social media marketing, including the best way to connect with consumers by creating unique and immersive experiences, including live video, to increase engagement and build brand loyalty.
Equally confident on camera is Virgin Media TV reporter Zara King, who discusses her dream job in television and what keeps her going when the news isn’t as positive as we might like.
Seminar Registration
The Women’s Inspire Network seminar, sponsored by Agorapulse, ISME Skillnet & Matrix internet, like many others, is an online experience in 2021, with a €20.00 registration fee to view speakers live online on March 8th or at a later stage.
Originally founded by Samantha Kelly as a Twitter hashtag in 2014, the online business group launched more extensively five years ago on Facebook and is now a global community with an engaged and active Facebook and Twitter presence.
Irish members include 430 small business owners who are social media savvy and draw on the online networking opportunity. Already a well-established online community, since the pandemic, WIN increased membership 28% last year, Samantha Kelly says.
“Lots more business owners need support in communicating on-line now, and many have had to pivot their businesses, learning new skills and developing resilience”.
Samantha has kept the ticket price low as she knows many are struggling. She is confident that the speakers will inspire business owners who attends the virtual event to be ready to click refresh and start soaring high despite the unprecedented times we are in.
Seminar registration is available now at https://win21refresh.heysummit.com, costing €20.00 for full access to all presentations, live and on playback. The seminar is open to anyone, not only members of the women’s business network.
