Windows 10 forced upgrades and annoying popups

If you have a computer that is running on Windows 7, 8 or 8.1 you will have seen the notifications appearing on your computer telling you to upgrade to Windows 10, and these notifications are getting more persistent. The reason for the persistence is because If you upgrade to Windows 10 before July 29^th, the upgrade will be free but after that you will have to pay €135 for Windows 10 Home and €279 for Windows 10 Pro.

For some users Windows 10 is a worthwhile upgrade but for those who are running legacy software there is a greater risk of major problems in the future. There has also been widely reported issues of computers upgrading to Windows 10 without their users consent.

This happened to a friend of mine last week, who mentioned to me that one of the computers where he worked, upgraded to Windows 10 automatically. The computer in questioned was been used to watch the Euro 2016 games, and after the upgrade this was not possible and all the browsers installed were running a lot slower than normal.

The reason this happened is because earlier this year Microsoft made the Windows 10 upgrade, a recommended update. Every time a computer running Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 is been used, it automatically checks for Microsoft recommended updates and then proceeds to install them.
