Brief background about you?
My “day” job is running The Digital Marketing Bureau, an agency focusing on all aspects of digital from SEO to Social, PPC to email automation; we really like to think that we look at ‘Marketing for the Now and Next’. A number of our clients are in the property industry because of my background and knowledge of who’s who in the sector but this is by no means set in stone. My other passion is the future and helping the property sector understand what is coming next.
As a result, I speak at a lot of conferences and write for publications about this very topic. Ideally, I would like to work more in an advisory capacity, helping firms scale, should they be a start up, or understand what is coming around the corner, should they be a larger firm.

What inspired you to speak at this event?
I have spoken at the conference a couple of times now and always come away from learning from the amazing panelists that Alex gets on board. There is something for every sector to learn and take away.
Why it will be helpful for people to attend. What will they get out of it?
With the VR and AR industries expected to hit a $80 billion industry target in the next 5 years it is important for all busineses to understand what is on the horizon. Consumer adoption of these technologies will dramatically increase in coming years and we have to be prepared for it all. The speakers will no doubt be sharing their knowledge and passions about the technology and help attendees understanding the actual application of the tech.

What should Dublin (and Irish) AV/VR companies be doing to be successful?
I think that we are still in a period of education, both for the companies applying the technology as well as the consumers. Companies need to be thinking about the consumer and understanding how to deploy the technology in the most simple of ways. Making it easy for consumers is the most important thing and getting in front of people sooner rather than later is integral. The more people get to play with and enjoy the technology the more likely the industry will scale quickly.
Who has inspired you?
There are some real pioneers of the technology who have been using it for years, through good times and bad, that are the real visions in the sector. There are a raft of companies that have inspired me rather than particular people. The team at Daqri are really forward thinking in the sector along with smaller more bespoke teams in London like Inition, Amplified Robot and Rewind FX
Anything else you’d like to add / we should have asked you?
We can all start playing with AR and VR now so just download all the apps you can and have fun with it. By having a greater understanding of how it works will help us understand the deployment of such technologies.
