Let’s face it. Keeping track of every type of cable and every type of different connection to keep all of our devices charged has become a real pain. You buy a new phone, your old charger is now redundant. You buy a new laptop it now has a connection you’ve never used before.

The gradual move to USB C has made things easier but we’re still left with a huge amount of devices that also use Micro USB and Lightning connectors. One day every device may use the same connectors but it still seems like that’s a long way off.

Personally, I carry a small bag full of cables and adapters in my laptop bag to try and cater for every situation but it’s often frustrating trying to find the right cable and fish it out of the tangled pile.

Luckily there’s an Australian start-up creating a range of charging products to make all of our lives easier and they are about to release their most durable, fast charging cable yet.

The Volta Spark cable has a unique system which allows it to magnetically connect to a number of different connectors allowing you to charge a whole host of devices with just one cable.

Volta Spark: One Charging Cable for All Your Devices

The Volta Spark can connect to USB C, Micro USB and Lightning connector tips which can be placed in all your devices and then connected via rare earth N52-Grade Neodymium reversible magnets in a 360° orientation. No matter what the connector you will always connect in the right orientation first time.

While convenient, the magnetic connection also adds a level of safety to your connections. Should someone accidentally pull on the cable the connection will break and prevent your device from being dragged with it. It’s similar to the much-loved MagSafe connection that used to be utilised on older MacBooks but now you can use it on all of your devices.

Volta claims the Spark is 10 times stronger than any other cable currently available on the market. The Spark is made from military-grade nylon and is paired with a specialized anti-fray protection tech so the cable stays as good as new and always charges.

I can’t remember how many Micro USB cables my kids have destroyed charging PS4 controllers. Every time they score a goal in Fifa and jump with joy the cable gets yanked from the controller and the top of the connector spans off.

As I look around my desk now though I can see just now many portable devices we use and how easy it would be to charge all these devices if there were magnetic tips fitted to them all.

I have a wireless mouse and keyboard that both use Micro USB to charge, a USB C phone, a wireless earphone case and portable Bluetooth speaker which again need Micro USB connectors and as I look further across the office I begin to see all the Apple products that need a mixture of Lightning and USB C connectors. I also see all the different cables lying about the place!

So with the Volta, you now have all your connectors sorted but it’s also important that the new-found convenience has no impact on charging speed. With the Volta Spark’s 18K gold-plated copper core plug & 24 AWG copper wires, along with the Volta smart chips, this guarantees a lightning-fast charge.

Volta Spark fast charging supports QC 3.0 and Power Delivery of up to 18W for lightning (fast charging) and Micro 10W for one-sided charging. The cable also supports 60W USB C charging.

1 Cable to Rule them All

The mess of cables that most people now endure can easily be solved with the Volta Spark. It will certainly reduce the number of cables I have to carry with me every day and it will calm my nerves when my kids are near anything that’s plugged in!

The VOLTA Spark is available through an already funded Indiegogo campaign. Take a look here to find out more.

In addition to making good cables, Volta as a company also does a lot of social good. They believe in technology and its ability to impact the lives of people. Their passion for humanity has driven them to use some of the proceeds for social good; renovating schools, building health centres and distributing food to the less-privileged in developing countries.

They are involved in a number of health, food and educational support projects which you can read more about here.
