Vodafone TV arrives in Ireland

Vodafone today launched TV services for the first time in Ireland. Vodafone TV includes the content and features customers will expect such as catch up and recording. Customers can also subscribe to services such as Netflix or BT Sports and Setanta.

Vodafone TV is a premium service available from €40 per month to all new and existing Vodafone Home (Broadband) customers. As part of the Vodafone TV service, Vodafone is today launching a new TV Anywhere app where mobile customers can watch their favourite shows while out and about. This service is included in the price of the customer’s Vodafone TV package. Also included in the package, customers can choose six months Netflix, Setanta Sports pack including BT Sports or Free Multiroom.

Ciaran Barrett, Head of Consumer Fixed, Vodafone Ireland, commented on the launch, “This is a significant move for Vodafone in the Irish market, offering a full TV service to our customers for the first time. Vodafone TV customers can build their own packages to suit their household needs and enjoy unique features such as Restart TV and Netflix at the touch of a button. We’ve listened to our customers to understand what kind of TV service they want and we believe we are delivering great content with an excellent experience that brings convenience and seamless viewing from the home into the hand.”

Vodafone TV is delivered through IPTV i.e. via high-speed broadband. It is available to consumers who have Vodafone Broadband speeds of at least 40mbps. It is available to all new and existing Vodafone Home (Broadband) customers with Simply Broadband, Home Essentials and Home Unlimited via a new 18 month contract for broadband services for €40 per month for the first six months.

Vodafone Basic TV package provides a minimum of 55 TV channels, with the add-on of Netflix or Sports (BT and Setanta Sports) with unlimited broadband and landline calls included for €40 for six months, standard price €70pm thereafter.
