Have a dream of becoming a top gamer? As the gaming industry in Ireland is set to be worth around €250 million, Virgin Media Ireland has analysed important metrics across 26 counties to find out which county is the best for gamers.

As gaming becomes a major part of entertainment and digital culture, having fast and reliable internet is essential for an immersive experience. Gamers who stream their playthroughs need high-speed broadband to deliver the best experience to their viewers on platforms like YouTube and Twitch.

Laois tops the list with an impressive average broadband speed of 249.79 Mbps, providing the fastest and most reliable connection for gamers in Ireland. Carlow comes in second at 190.8 Mbps, followed by Kildare in third place with 169.59 Mbps.

Westmeath ranks fourth with speeds of 152.09 Mbps, and Wexford is fifth at 145.12 Mbps. These counties represent the pinnacle of high-speed internet in Ireland, essential for gamers who demand top-notch performance.

High-speed internet is crucial for Ireland’s top gamers and streamers. Many of Ireland’s leading gaming talents have earned impressive amounts and built large followings, highlighting the importance of fast and reliable internet.

Jacksepticeye (Sean William McLoughlin), Ireland’s top-earning gamer, brings in between €9 to €18 million annually, with an astounding 31 million subscribers (about the population of California).

Nogla (Daithi De Nogla), known for his engaging content, earns between €455,000 to €910,000 per year and has built a following of 7.8 million subscribers (about twice the population of Oklahoma).

Terroriser (Brian Michael Hanby), known for his gaming videos and vlogs, reports annual earnings between €273,000 to €637,000. With 4 million subscribers (about twice the population of New Mexico), he showcases the popularity and financial success achievable in the gaming industry.

Ireland’s gaming industry is booming, it’s surpassing the film and television sector. Counties like Laois, Carlow, and Kildare offer the best opportunities for online gaming, making them an ideal hub for gamers.

The global gaming market is anticipated to reach €475 billion by 2030, and gamers are earning impressive amounts from posting content online and competing in E-sports competitions. They can combine their passion with their talent.
