A new report from independent researchers and the firm Verdantix, has shown that sustainability is being more recognized in driving operational excellence strategies with electrification of processes and equipment.
Most of the companies interviewed confirmed that electrification of industrial processes and equipment was a very significant trend shaping its operational excellence strategy for the year ahead. Verdantix interviewed 256 respondents and 95% of them were from firms with more than $1 billion revenues. Across 14 industries found the replacing ageing equipment ‘very significant’ or ‘significant’ trend for 89% of respondents.
Global research identifies electrification of industrial processes and equipment as the most significant sustainability trend as budgets grow.
Verdantix’s report Global Corporate Survey 2021: Operational Excellence Budgets, Priorities & Tech Preferences explains that the advantage to switch to an electrical equipment is that it needs less maintenance and is also more energy-efficient.
256 respondents were interviewed by Verdantix and 95% were from firms with more than $1 billion revenues. Across 14 industries found the replacing aging equipment ‘very significant’ or ‘significant’ trend for 89% of respondents.
Research Director and report author Malavika Tohani, said: “Sustainable operations emerged as a key trend in 2021, with the climate emergency dominating corporate and government dialogue alongside the pandemic, culminating in the UN COP26 conference on climate change in November 2021.”
Ageing equipment is usually an issue to leaks and 88% of firms’ interviews stated that, leak detection for emission reduction as a ‘very significant’ or ‘significant’ trend for the year ahead with 84% saying the same about emissions date capture and reporting.
Securing green electricity will also be very ‘very significant’ throughout 2022, according to firms interviewed.
