We attended UXtomorrow meetup held on Thursday, October 19th, 2017, that brought together a community of designers, developers as well as product strategists, all interested in enhancing the user experience for consumers of a wide range of digital products – from news to games.
The UXtomorrow started by Mary O’Gorman and Marie Hedigan is a series of meetups, speaker events and workshops organised for those interested in interaction design, user experience, development and business.
The team organised their first meetup about eight months ago and this time at the Storyful office in Dublin, they brought together two interesting speakers – Flavien Plouzennec – UX designer at Xwerx and Om Tandon – UX Director at DIGIT Games Studios.
This speaker event was focused around ‘UX Process and Measuring Success’. Flavien started out with an insightful presentation on the ‘Best analytical practices in the news industry’ though admitting that it is indeed ‘hard to measure success’ and that it has only been a year, since news websites have started bothering about editorial analytics.
The meetup provided an overview of tools that publishers may use to try and measure user satisfaction, namely Google Analytics, Chartbeat and Parse.ly amongst others.
Om Tandon spoke of the challenges he faced while working as the Creative Director at Tap to Learn – an education gaming startup incubated at Y-Combinator in 2012.
“No ‘process’ is ever a one size fits all approach. The size of the company, budget and stakeholder education matters.” Om Tandon
The meetup allowed for audience interaction after both speaker sessions and was a good opportunity for all attendees to network with one another over beer and pizza which was sponsored by Storyful.
