UPC have announced that their Android Horizon TV App is now available to download from the Play Store. Available for iOS for sometime, the lack of an Android version had been an issue for UPC customers up to now.
This app is for all UPC customers with a Horizon TV HD+ box or Digital+ box who also have a UPC Broadband subscription. The app only works on devices with Android 4.x and up but thankfully the number of devices running lower versions is becoming less and less.
Features include:
– Now on TV: Watch up to 50 popular TV channels live on your smartphone or tablet (depending on your subscription)
– TV Guide: A TV Guide with a complete overview of all your channels
– Favourites: Create your personal line-up in the app by hiding and sorting channels
– Record: Schedule a recording for your Horizon TV HD+ box or Digital+ box from wherever you are
Watching TV via the Horizon TV App is possible if you have a Digital TV subscription and a Broadband subscription from UPC.
You also need to be connected to your UPC broadband using your Android tablet or phone (via Wi-Fi). This is an important point as streaming outside of your own home is still unavailable.
You need to log in with your My UPC account to watch TV and to schedule recordings on your Horizon TV HD+ box or Digital+ box. If you are a UPC customer and do not have a My UPC account yet, then you can sign up for one here. The TV Guide can be accessed from anywhere and used by anyone without having to log in.
