Trust Gaming GXT 1863 Thaz Mechanical Keyboard, reviewed

We look at this colourful and kinda cool product, which was a big hit among our younger road testers in the office. The Trust Gaming GXT 1863 Thaz Mechanical Keyboard is available on Amazon here, and see the Trust website here.

Trust Gaming GXT 1863 Thaz Mechanical Keyboard, reviewed

The gamers and wanna be gamers in our house loved this device. It was clearly designed with a specific demographic in mind, and with this group they love it, so it would suggest that this has been a successful niche product to build. For the other uses too though, they also liked the overall robustness and spring back tactile feel from the keys. The lights are fun too, and even for those who have no specific need or use of different colours for different keys, different rows, or different functions it is still kinda fun too.

The security aspects, including the anti-ghosting, if uncrackable could be really popular with all users too. Very much a case of a nicely designed product that also delivers on some important and very useful functionality too. We could see keyboards like this being a hit with all and any users in the family. Coming in at £40 or about $50 dollars or euros it won’t break the bank either. It could definitely be a good stocking filler too for the computer games playing person in your life. A fun product to road test and we will keep an eye out for other products from this company.

The Trust GXT 1863 Thaz is your new, powerful instrument to rule your favourite PC games. The mechanical Outemu RED switches are fast, responsive and will last up to 50 million keystrokes. The N-key rollover makes sure that every button press is translated to the game, and by enabling the game mode, you’ll stay in your game, even if you accidentally press the Windows key. Keep your head in the game; keep your eyes on the prize.

Mechanical RED

The mechanical Outemu RED switches of the Trust Thaz are designed to be extremely quick and responsive. With a minimum actuation force of 30G (50G max) and the actuation point of only 2mm (4mm total travel) this keyboard registers your input before you even realise you’re pressing a button. They have a linear feel and will last up to 50 million key presses. The Trust Thaz is built to last.

Stay in the Game

The Thaz is equipped with full N-key rollover. Thanks to this anti-ghosting technique, every button press is registered and no command will go unnoticed. And by enabling the gaming mode, the Windows key is disabled; this makes sure you won’t get kicked out of your game when you accidentally press the Windows key in the heat of the moment.
