When and where is it on?

Huckeltree D2, 42 Pearse Street, Dublin 2.

7th November 2019, 5:30PM – 8PM

How many years has it been going?

TravelMassive started in Sydney in 2011 and has grown to over 55,000 travel industry members worldwide. In 2013, the Dublin chapter started and has promoted the city as a travel technology hub through a series of events held a few times per year since where we’re home to 600+ active members, ranking as the 5th most active chapter internationally.

Travel Massive Event returns to Dublin

What was the inspiration to start it?

Like any business, innovation is key to survival and growth. The travel industry comes with it’s own nuances, rules and customs which aren’t visible or easy to navigate for the newcomer. To make the business more accessible to new ideas, creators and entrepreneurs, Travel Massive’s chapters worldwide and the online platform is a way to share ideas.

Travel Massive Dublin has held events on Enterprise Sales (RAIN MAKER), Self-Driving Cars, Tours and Activities sector (CHANGE MAKER), Entering new Chinese tourism markets (CHINA RISING) and hosted CTO/CIO interviews with airline execs from AA/Ryanair/Peach (THE AIRLINE INTERVIEWS) so far this year.

What exciting things can people look forward to?

At the next event, DESIGN HERO, we’ll be talking about how critical the topic of brand and design is to the travel industry. In January this year, Aer Lingus revealed their new branding, and their head of Brand and Digital, as well as their design agency Lippincott, will be along to share notes about how that project has run and the reaction since then.

We’re also delighted to hear from the head of design from mobile-AI startup HOPPER about how they approach design and user experience.

For something that’s so important to “Digital” in travel, we’ll be putting “Design” — whether pixels or winglets — center stage.

What opportunities are on offer for those attending?

Networking with 70+ travel industry leaders, from designers to entrepreneurs

Who will be speaking?

Dara McMahon, Head of Digital for Aer Lingus

Lee Coomber, Partner at Lippincott London

Pierre-Etienne Corriveau, Head of Product Design, Hopper

We’ll also hear from John Rizzo, CEO of sponsor, DEEM Inc, who have recently opened their new development centre in Dublin

Kevin O’Shaughnessy of CityHook and Silvia Amaduzzi of Travelport Digital will be the interviewers

Mark Lenahan of Travelport will be the host for the event.

What tips would you give to people attending to get the most out of it?

Build allies, not leads: like any travel industry event, come with an open mind and with a view to building new connections over the long term. While it’s possible, travel doesn’t always have overnight revolutions, so partnerships tend to come from connections you might have made quite a while ago

Bring your notebook, we’ll be sharing some great insights on design, made accessible for anybody in the business.

How can people book tickets / when does it usually sell out?

The event has a waitlist and we’ll prioritize travel industry members, members of the (free) travelmassive.com platform and UX designers.

See more events here.

Anything else you’d like to add / we should have asked?

We will be podcasting the event and listeners can tune in to the Travel Massive podcast after the event for some highlights.
