How are you different?

STATSports have taken performance monitoring to the next level. Our innovative metrics such as Dynamic stress load, High Metabolic Load distance and Step Balance allow coaches to assess a player’s performance and assist in preventing injuries in a way that had never been possible previously.

Why will the company / product do well?

STATSports technologies released their 1st Viper system in 2012 and has since signed up over 100 clients. The likes of Messi, Neymar, Bale, Rooney, Gerrard, Cam Newton, Derrick Rose and Johnny Sexton all use STATSports to monitor their performance.

Teams pay large amounts for these players so it is imperative that they make sure the players are in peak condition as often as possible. They do this using STATSports as we provide a quick, user-friendly, accurate and reliable service.

Where are you based, how is the broadband? How long will you stay there?

STATSports have offices in Newry and Dundalk on these shores as well as offices in London and Chicago.

We also have a number of other strategic locations and sales representatives globally. The plan is for the headquarters to remain in Ireland for the foreseeable future.

When was the company launched?

STATSports Technologies was launched in 2011. With the 1st Viper system launching later that year.

What have been your biggest wins to date?

  • We have managed to sign the biggest teams across America, Ireland, UK, Italy, Spain, Brazil, China, New Zealand, Austria and work with the very best in each sport since day one.
  • We have helped clients win over 100 trophies in the last few years. For example, our clients have secured a further 12 titles in May 2015 alone. These include: La Liga, Serie A, Sky Bet Championship and League 1 titles. STATSports also work with the 2 Champions League finalists, the 2 FA cup finalists and the 2 Copa del Rey finalists so there are plenty more trophies on the horizon.
  • Alan Clarke’s recent Nomination for E & Y Entrepreneur of the year.

What type of market are you trying to attract?

At present we operate almost entirely in the Elite sports market. We will be branching into the consumer industry with the launch of our Viper 3 in 2016. We also have plans to work with teams to engage fans in sports as much as possible using the metrics we provide.

Tell us about your team?

At present, we have about 35 employees at STATSports. These make up our management team, software department, R & D department and Business administration. The Co-founders Alan Clarke and Sean O’Connor still own the business and drive it on a daily basis as we continue to expand. Alan Clarke is on the final shortlist with a chance to win E & Y Entrepreneur of the year 2015. He loves to get out there and drive sales and develop leads and has an incredible knack of getting deals done. Sean has overseen our American expansion working closely with the team in Chicago. Paul Johnston our General Manager joined STATSports about 18 months ago after 6 hugely successful years as General manager of Dundalk Football Club.

What are you long term plans for your product / company?

There is still massive room for growth in the relatively untapped Elite sports market so the plan is to continue our global expansion. We also recently signed an exciting league wide deal with the RFL in England which will see STATSports enter the broadcast market shortly. As mentioned above, we have major plans to enter the consumer market with a version of our Viper Pod in 2016.

What are your favourite tech gadgets?

My favourite has be to Drone’s at the moment. We have recently been using them to get video footage of training which we can integrate into the system. The quality of the images they pick up is incredible and we have had great fun using it.
