Three new Zagg summer products reviewed

We look at three new products from Zagg, see more about these products here.

3-in-1 Travel Charger with MagSafe (RRP £134.95) – The 3-in-1 Travel Charger is a great addition to your travel bag this spring ,allowing you to charge three devices at once

This product was the one that caused the most immediate interest among our reviewers. The thinking was that it would be great to have one place where everyone could, cordlessly, recharge their batteries. However it was not quite designed with that usecase in mind. Instead this was more about one location to charge three different types of devices at the same time. Namely earbuds

Powerstation Go Rugged Compact (RRP £84.99) – This small but mighty powerstation can power almost every aspect of your life. It can charge your phone or tablet, light up a room during a black out, and jump start your car in an emergency

This product is useful for charging phones, and will be helpful in a variety of situations. For getting it to jump start a car battery you need the powerstation to be completely charged. Even then you are slightly crossing your fingers to see if it will re-fire up your car or jeep battery. There are a few variables in play here, how dead is the car battery, will the powerstation have the power to get a larger jeep battery working?

We are giving the powerstation some leeway here, but in several situations we didn’t manage to get a flat car battery to work again using this device. Maybe it was us, maybe the car battery was too dead, and maybe the powerstation needs to be firing on all cylinders, so to speak. It would be helpful perhaps if there was also some diagnostic information on the powerstation to help inform which element in the chain was the reason for it not working.

Snap+ Wireless Vent Mount (RRP £59.95) – The Snap+ Wireless Vent Mount is perfect for keeping your phone charged whilst checking the route to your getaway location. Magnetically connect your phone to the mount and let the power of mophie do the rest to keep your phone charging

This device is handy, and could well be a big hit to ensure more straight forward recharging of your phone. There is certainly scope for a device like this, as it is magnetic and wireless. With previous chargers we have generally found it is the connection point that tends to be the weak link, so this product was popular with our testers. As it plugs into the cigarette lighter point it also fits more snuggly and is less likely to break its connection.

Another thing to consider is that you will probably need to take the phone out of its protective case if it has any size or weight, to ensure it connects snugly to the magnetic charger itself. This works if you are going on longer trips, but could get annoying if you are jumping in and out of the car every five minutes.
